Encore:

Francisco Mejia, c, Indians. Mejia led our Hot Sheet last week, and it looks like he’s pushing to be held over for a second, smash week. The Indians’ top prospect had four hits Sunday, including a homer, as Double-A Akron beat New Hampshire (Blue Jays) 7-3. In his past 10 games, Mejia is 19-for-41 with five homers and 12 RBIs.

Sunday games:

CLE AA Bradley, Bobby 1B 5 1 1 1 .238
CLE AA Krieger, Tyler 2B 5 0 0 0 .234 [fading away; although he does hit doubles]
CLE AA Mathias, Mark SS 3 1 1 1 .228 BB (11), SB (4)
CLE AA Mejia, Francisco C 5 1 4 1 .369 2B (13), HR (8), CS (2)
CLE AAA Diaz, Yandy 3B 3 0 1 0 .318 BB (28)
CLE AAA Rodriguez, Nellie 1B 3 1 1 1 .148 HR (7)
CLE MAJ Gonzalez, Erik 2B 3 1 2 1 .333 2B (1) [outhitting Michael Martinez]
CLE MAJ Zimmer, Bradley PH-CF 1 0 0 0 .246 BB (8), SB (4) [160/250/400 in June. Not dreadful; he walks enough, hits enough doubles and homers, and steals enough bases that even a 160 avg produces decent peripherals]

CLE AAA Armstrong, Shawn 2 2 0 0 0 1 3.14
CLE HiA Bieber, Shane 5.2 4 1 1 0 6 4.19 W (1-1) [his 6 starts for Lynchburg besides the disaster: 38 2/3-44-15-13-2-26 Not great, but not bad]

... Cleveland Indians No. 3 prospect Triston McKenzie is starting to turn heads in the baseball world. McKenzie, 19, set a record high for strikeouts on May 9 when he struck out 14 of the Carolina Mudcats hitters. On Thursday, June 8, McKenzie had 13 strikeouts, one shy of his career high.

During his 14 strikeout game, McKenzie went six complete innings allowing only one hit dropping his ERA to 1.95. This past Thursday, McKenzie went seven strong innings on his way to his fourth win allowing only two hits. The only run he managed to give up was a first inning, lead off homer to the Keys’ Austin Hays.

McKenzie struck out five in a row on two different occasions back on May 8 and on June 8, he struck out six in a row before the he was taken out of the game prior to the start of the eighth inning.

After speaking to several people and getting feedback from a reliable source, it is a possibility that the Indians would promote McKenzie around August. That way it would give the young 6-foot-5 tall and lanky right-hander time to see some Double-A action before feeding him to the dogs next year to start the season.

It is obvious the Tribe’ does not want to rush their young talent through their rankings. As seen last year, McKenzie earned a promotion to Low-A Lake County on August 3, 2016. ...

Thought this was a funny take, from a fantasy site:

Francisco Mejia - C - Indians

Indians prospect Francisco Mejia went 4-for-5 with a homer on Sunday for Triple-A Columbus.

There's hot, there's on fire, and then there's what Francisco Mejia is right now. Over the last ten days, he's hitting .516 with five homers, and he's stolen two bases as well. Saying he's the best fantasy catching prospect in baseball is somehow an understatement. A promotion to Triple-A should happen sometime soon after the league's All-Star break.

Here are other ways to look at "recent" Mejia stats:

last 5 games: 609/640/1.391 OPS of 2.031
previous 8 games he had only 1 double but still had a stat line of: 444/531/482 OPS merely 1.013
previous 5 games he had an earlier power surge: 333/369/778 OPS 1.147
combine them altogether: 18 games he's 32 of 68 with 6 doubles 7 homers 8 walks: 471/526/868 OPS 1.394

Civale is pitching for Lynchburg tonight. Their game just getting underway.

Merritt of course is pitching for Lake County tonight. Big news there is Logan Ice is back in the lineup. Their game gets underway soon.

Clips and Ducks are off tonight.

By the way, that transaction I posted above, Vincente and Ventura are going from Lake County to Mahoning Valley. 4 spots open on that roster now for tonights draftees. Or more moving can be done.

Lynchburg beat Wilmington tonight 8-1 on another great outing by Civale. 8 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K. ... Loopstok 2-5 with his 3rd triple. ... Castro 2-4 with a stolen base.

Lake County beats Bowling Green 5-4. Merritt was good but not sure he was as dominating against a low A team as I would like since his next start is against the division leading Twons. 7 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K. ... Chu 2-3 with his 8th homer. ... Ice 0-3 in his return.

Civale makes a special mention at BA today:

1.08 in three Double-A outings.

Aaron Civale, rhp, Indians. Civale saved his longest pro outing for his 22nd birthday. The third-round pick from Northeastern last June allowed just two hits and a run as high Class A Lynchburg beat Wilmington (Royals) 8-1. Civale’s offerings play up thanks to his plus control and he’s been better since a promotion to high Class A, going 2-1, 1.96. Overall, he’s 4-5, 3.94 with 68 strikeouts and just eight walks in 75.1 innings.

CLE HiA Castro, Willi SS 4 1 2 2 .295 SB (6) solid .315 since May 1. But still doesn't walk, last free pass was on May 28
CLE LoA Ice, Logan C 3 0 0 0 .207
CLE HiA Civale, Aaron 8 2 1 1 0 4 1.96 W (2-1)
CLE LoA Merritt, Ryan 7 7 2 2 1 4 2.57 W (1-0)
