I'm sure when he was sent down he was told to work on laying off the high fastball. Become more patient. Work some walks, cut down on some K's. Maybe he is just actually doing a good job at it?

Either that, or there aren't many good pitchers down there. Lots of players are AAAA. Hope Tyler doesn't fall into that category.

I have listened to some of our minor league games this spring but haven't got to watch one yet. I usually don't subscribe to the whole MiLB.TV season, just for a couple months in the middle of season. After NHL and NBA playoffs and NFL Draft, and before the NFL season gets going. Some come July I might have a better idea if he's still there.

Ka'ai Tom was a pretty draft pick and although he missed a large of last season with injury made bottom range of Top 30 lists. Kind of like Calica, a line drive hitter with some speed, can draw walks, but not the skills for center field. Both of those two have been coming on strong. I think Tom has more power. When drafted he seemed to have offensive potential akin to Mathias and Krieger.

Lamenting no baseball today on my day off. Was really looking forward to it. No Cavs game either. Started watching some minor league video highlights. Gonzalez's homer yesterday was a nice opposite field shot. Cleared RF wall by 10 feet.

How about we bring him up and dump Martinez. I mean seriously, enough with this stiff.

Columbus was off tonight.
Akron gets a walk off double in the bottom of the 9th by Sever to win 3-2. ... Lugo pitched 5.1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 5 K. ... Greg Allen 0-4 2 K ... Krieger 0-3 walk. ... Chang 0-3 walk and 2 K. ... Bradley 1-3 triple walk SB and K. ... Papi 1-3 walk and K. ... Mathias 0-3 with K.
Lynchburg's game postponed due to rain.
Lake County finally gets a much needed W beating the Kernals 4-3 on a walk off double by Wakamatsu in the 11th. ... Civale back on track a bit. 6 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K. ... Ben Krauth finally makes it back, but not quite himself cause he actually gave up a run, a home run, in 2 innings. His ERA is an astronomical 0.63 now. ... Gabe Mejia finally gets his act together, going 3-5 with an SB. ... Ice 1-4 with walk and 3 K. ... Chu 0-5 with 4 K. Ever since I started following him he went from red hot to ice cold. ... Isaacs 1-5 with 2 K.

I don't think Rutledge ever suited up. I wish him well in the Frontier League, or perhaps a career in geospatial engineering.
BA notes:
CLE AA Bradley, Bobby 1B 3 0 1 0 .177 3B (1), BB (16), SB (1) [a steal??]
CLE AA Chang, Yu-Cheng SS 3 0 0 0 .209 BB (10)
CLE AA Krieger, Tyler 2B 3 0 0 0 .274 BB (10)
CLE AA Mathias, Mark 3B 3 0 0 0 .143
CLE LoA Ice, Logan DH 4 1 1 0 .273 BB (15)
CLE LoA Civale, Aaron 6 4 2 2 0 5 3.41 [that's better]

More than you want to know about Jamal Rutledge:
With their 28th round pick (#842 overall) in the 2016 Draft the Cleveland Indians have selected shortstop Jamal Rutledge out of Contra Costa College (CA).
Born: 11/22/1995 – Height: 6’2” – Weight: 170 – Bats: Right – Throws: Right
Jeff Ellis: Jamal Rutledge is the hardest player to find information for so far in this draft. He is a shortstop from Contra Coast College. Contra Coast has not had a player drafted directly from it since 2010, and has produced one major league player taken directly from there in Mike Felder who was taken in 1981. The stats on Rutledge have him appearing in 31 games this year, but unlike most of the other selections the Indians have made, he rarely walked as he did it just five times and struck out 27 times. I am going to assume that looking at the numbers that Rutledge is a solid defender at short and that is what drew the Indians to him. There is no player profile on the Contra site or anywhere, but there can be great players who come out of nowhere. This is no knock on Jamal, as he is just somewhat of an unknown until he signs (if he does).

he did get to suit up.
http://richmondstandard.com/2016/06/21/ ... -rutledge/
Jamal Rutledge is looking dapper in his new uniform. In the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft that began June 9, the Richmond resident was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 28th round.
The right-handed shortstop most recently played for Contra Costa College. He stands 6-2 and weighs about 170 pounds and graduated from El Cerrito High School. He deserves a huge congrats and we wish him the best of luck.

And he got a chance to show his stuff in Arizona last summer and maybe this is why he was released:
Slash line of 109/128/152. Good luck Jamal.

LOL @ "he did get to suit up"
Hey, picture day day counts, I guess. Although that's more like playing "dress up" than suiting up..

Video of Bradley triple. Good LF'er would have caught it but still a nice opposite field shot.
