Biggest event of the season: Dylan Baker Pitches An Inning!!!
First appearance since 2015. Now matches his number of appearances over the Past Two Years. Only 55 1/3 innings short of his 3-year-total.
Of course the likelihood of him lasting through May is pretty slim.
Maybe for luck should change his name: Nalyd Rekab sounds good.

Video of Allen's diving catch. Someone on Twitter said he robbed them of a homer and a double but as I watch the video not sure this would have been a double, but great catch regardless.

The ne t video is of Allen stealing his 8th base.

I just want you guys to remember who was toting Allen before anybody else.
<- This guy.
He's our future CF'er and lead off hitter.
And once again want to thank LuCroy for turning down that trade.

How come we all didn't pick Sam Haggerty as our breakout player for 2017. Something has got into this kid this year.
last year in Lake County he slashed 230/323/320. He hit 15 doubles 2 triples 4 homers and stole 12 in 14 tries
a bit better in Lynchburg this April 328/432/623 He's hit 6 doubles 6! triples no HR and stole 8 out of 9
[added double No. 7 today]
22 years old, so kind of average for his level. Playing predominately at 2nd base.

Yandy threw out a base runner at 3rd from LF
That runner was Ryan Raburn, so it may not count.

The first month of the minors was not terribly impressive. All teams with losing records. At AAA starters Plutko [ERA 7.56] and Morimando [6.65] and Merritt [4.82] have been unimpressive. Chang and Bradley are sub-200 in Akron although show their expected power. Aiken's best start for Lake County was the one in which he didn't strike anyone out.
Of our top prospects, F. Mejia, G. Allen and T. McKenzie are all looking very sharp. Zimmer is probably never going to hit for high average but his W, HR and SB totals are OK. Tyler Krieger's doing what he does best: hit singles and doubles and steal bases.
As for breakouts, Merryweather stands out. Since his debut, which we will blame on butterflies in the stomach, he's gone:
24 2/3 innings, allowed 14 hits and 3 walks [0.69 WHIP] and 26 strikeouts 4 earned runs [1.46 ERA]
And of course, Thomas Pannone, who didn't allow a run in 4 April starts, 20 2/3 innings, 31K WHIP 0.68
Not much among position players, Haggerty's numbers are very impressive but doubt he has moved into prospect discussions.

Akron was rained out.
Lynchburg beat Winstom-Salem 5-0. Now who might have pitched shut out ball for them? Oh yes, Pannone. 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 8 K. This is getting serious. ... Haggerty just keeps on hitting. 2-4 both hits doubles. ... Calica 2-4. ... Marabell 1-3 with a homer and walk. ... Carter 1-4 with homer.

This Pannone streak is getting a little ridiculous. Hard to see how it can go unnoticed. MILB.com has become aware:
By Josh Jackson / MiLB.com | May 2, 2017 12:27 AM ET
For a while Monday evening, it appeared rain would force Thomas Pannone to wait for the chance to build on his fantastic start to 2017.
"I went through my whole routine and everything I do on a game day when I'm starting, and they told us it was going to be delayed a half-hour. Then they told us another half-hour. I really thought it was going to be canceled," the Cleveland southpaw said. "I still stayed locked in mentally. I wanted to go out there and continue on what I've been doing."
After a 90-minute delay, Pannone went to the hill and washed out the competition. The left-hander lasted seven frames to extend his scoreless-inning streak to 18 2/3, allowing three hits while striking out eight without a walk as Class A Advanced Lynchburg topped visiting Winston-Salem, 5-0.
"Just the comfort level in itself is a big thing for me. I'm extremely comfortable with my delivery and my day-to-day work," he said. "The results have come, but once I'm out in the game, I'm just trying to attack, trying to get ahead and get the next guy in the box."
Pannone (2-0) has not allowed an earned run over 27 2/3 innings across five starts this season. He last gave up an earned run on Aug. 25, 2016, for Lynchburg against Wilmington. After hurling 13 shutout frames over his final two starts last year, he turned in five hitless innings in his first start this season.
The Rhode Island native has allowed just 10 hits while racking up 39 strikeouts and just seven walks this year. He yielded an unearned run April 12 in a win over Salem.
"Last year, I made a pretty big delivery adjustment with my lower half," Pannone said. "I developed a little bit of a bad habit where I was throwing pretty far across my body. I straightened that out late in the season, and I used the offseason to set it in stone and make it my own. I brought it to Spring Training, and it felt really good, and I carried it into the season."
Working under clear skies and mild conditions, he struck out the side in the first inning and was perfect his first time through the lineup. He shrugged off a one-out double by Ronald Bueno in the fourth and retired nine in a row after that.
"The biggest thing for me tonight -- which I didn't do in my last outing -- was getting guys in and out of the box faster than I have been. I've had longer at-bats my last couple games -- six, seven, eight pitches," Pannone said. "I wanted to limit that, get them out of the box in three or four pitches, and I did a good job of that."
Louis Silverio doubled off the left-field wall with one out in the seventh, but Pannone stayed focused.
"That was definitely the biggest moment in the game for me," the ninth-round pick in 2013 said. "I knew I was coming down in my pitch count, and I knew it was getting deep into the game. I didn't really feel any fatigue -- I felt strong in the seventh inning -- and I really wanted to get those next two guys and finish the seventh.
"I thought they'd keep me out there at least for the next guy [after the Silverio double]. I didn't think the pitch count was up there too high, because I knew I had some wiggle room [coming into the inning] and I didn't need to be too fine, but I also knew I probably couldn't give up another hit or a walk."
He fanned Aaron Schnurbusch and got Toby Thomas to fly out to center. Pannone threw 62 of 90 pitches for strikes and reliever Leandro Linares surrendered one hit and struck out three over the final two innings.
Lynchburg's Connor Marabell homered for the second consecutive game.

and MILB also noted the following:
Diaz paces Clippers with career-high five RBIs
Indians infielder belts home run in fourth multi-hit game of '17
Despite having little left to prove in the Minor Leagues, Yandy Diaz is back in Triple-A largely due to a roster crunch with a talented Indians team that reached the World Series in 2016.
Although the 25-year-old obviously prefers to be back in The Show, consider Columbus a welcoming recipient of his talent.
Diaz drove in a career-high five runs and belted a home run on a three-hit night as Columbus defeated Louisville, 6-1, on Monday.
The 10th-ranked prospect is hitting .382/.488/.559 in nine games since returning to the Clippers.
Diaz provided instant offense in the first inning, taking Rob Wooten's 2-0 offering over the wall in right-center field for a three-run homer. The native of Cuba added a run-scoring single to center in the second before grounding into a double play in the fourth.
Diaz drove in his fifth run in the sixth, plating Indians No. 26 prospect Nellie Rodriguez with a single to right. The third baseman went down swinging in his final plate appearance, but still recorded his fourth multi-hit game of the season.
Last year, Diaz hit .318/.408/.446 with 35 extra-base hits and 58 RBIs in 121 games with Double-A Akron and Columbus and was named an MiLB.com Organizational All-Star for the second consecutive campaign. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound infielder began 2017 with the Indians and batted .236 with nine runs and two RBIs in 15 games.
Cleveland's No. 8 prospect Erik Gonzalez doubled, singled and scored twice. Tyler Naquin chipped in three hits and an RBI.
Shawn Morimando (2-3) turned in his second consecutive strong outing for the Clippers. The Indians No. 17 prospect yielded one run on seven hits and two walks while striking out two in six innings.
