Loufla, you're absolutely right. Gonzalez is for some reason only used in RF and rarely gets off the bench. What's the point?

Sources: #Indians, #SFGiants in mix for Melancon along with #Nationals. #Pirates want MLB reliever, 7th-inning type, as part of any deal.

Carlos Beltran - OF - Yankees

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Indians and Rangers have talked to the Yankees about Carlos Beltran.

The switch-hitting outfielder would be an immense upgrade to either lineup, though the cost to acquire him could be steeper than either club is willing to pay.

They would have to offer more value than the Yankees feel they would get from the compensation pick they would get from Beltran leaving via free agency after the season.

Indians on Lucroy's no-trade list. Got to really sweeten the pot if they want him.

Not necessarily. Made sense to have the Indians on it. But now, they are contenders. Easier sell, he wants out.

By the way, Padres having fire sale. They paid a lot of Andrew Cashner's salary to unload.

They are looking to unload Matt Kemp and Derek Norris.

Matt Kemp - OF - Padres

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports the Padres are looking to deal Matt Kemp.

Everything must go. The Padres still aren't done selling even after trading away Andrew Cashner, Melvin Upton, James Shields, Fernando Rodney and Drew Pomeranz.

Trading Kemp appears to be the team's next order of business and the Padres are willing to eat a large chunk of his salary to broker a deal. The 31-year-old has had a fine season, hitting .269 with 23 HR and 69 RBI.

Rosenthal mentioned Atlanta as a possible fit. It looks like the only Padre safe from being traded is All-Star first baseman Wil Myers.
