I'd be thrilled to add Miller, and I think we have enough to pay the price, But I doubt we'll get him.

I totally agree civ, I would love to add Andrew Miller and obviously in the system there's more than enough to get him.

But the odds to agreeing to a fair market value in prospects for Miller are pretty remote.

If a deal like this happened, I'd be in awe of our front office. About time.

I am sure the front office knows that assembling lots of minor league talent serves the trade market as well as the team's on-field needs. We really cannot use Lindor, Gonzalez, Chang and Castro all at SS; nor Kipnis, Krieger and Mathias all at 2nd. The way the six minor leaguers just listed have performed this year I'm sure makes them valuable components in a deal. I suppose pitchers have greater value, although SS are pretty important too; our pitching depth includes 2 very capable AAA starters [Anderson and Clevinger], some less projectable AAA arms [Plutko, Merritt and Morimando] and depth in the 18-20 year old range. I don't want to give Clevinger. So what would a package of Anderson, Plutko, Gonzalez and Krieger be worth? That's not just a grab-bag of names.

Although I think those are good players I just offered in trade, when I think about my reaction to a package of youngsters we receive in these deadline deals, they nearly always include one or two of the other team's top prospects. I just gave the Yankees a deal without any of our Top 7, who rate among BA's top 71. We'd have to give more; just recall who those 7 are: Frazier, Zimmer, Aiken, Bradley, Sheffield, Mejia, McKenzie, Clevinger, and decide which ones we should give.

I'm not a Sheffield fan. Too short. Won't get major league players out. Throw him in, if needed.

Aroldis Chapman - R - Yankees

According to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN, rival executives have the sense that the Indians are more inclined "to shoot the moon" for a trade for Aroldis Chapman or Andrew Miller than they typically would.

The Indians have a great rotation and expect to get Michael Brantley back soon, so adding an impact arm to put alongside Cody Allen and Bryan Shaw in the bullpen makes a lot of sense.

Seems to me the Yankees do not need SS ,or 2b or 3b or catcher. They do need 1B, and outfielder, and starters.

Here is a possibility, Sheffield, Zimmer, and Bradley for Miller and Chapman. Only 1 of those for Chapman. After all Chapman is only a 6month deal and has baggage. Remember that Sheffield is related to a former Yankee player, Gary Sheffield.

Michael Brantley - OF - Indians

Indians manager Terry Francona said Tuesday that Michael Brantley is feeling discomfort again in his surgically-repaired right shoulder.
Brantley feels it at the end of his swing, which is obviously a serious problem. The outfielder will undergo an enhanced image exam on Wednesday as the Indians try to gather more information about this latest setback.

Brantley has been limited to 11 major league games this season and probably won't be returning anytime soon. He had recently shifted his minor league rehab assignment from Double-A Akron to Triple-A Columbus, putting him one step away from Cleveland.

It sure doesn't sound good for the season. [Reading between the lines, it seems that perhaps are getting a little frustrated with Michael, although that's probably reading in too much.]

With Yankees scouts reportedly watching from the stands, the Indians’ No. 5 prospect and No. 69 overall struck out eight in 6 2/3 innings Tuesday as high Class A Lynchburg blanked Wilmington (Royals) 4-0. After losing three straight starts in June, Sheffield, the No. 31 overall pick in 2014, has not lost since June 18. With the Indians reportedly interested in bullpen help, Sheffield could be part of the bait to acquire Aroldis Chapman or Andrew Miller.
