Colabello had a very good WBC. He was stellar on defense and hit the ball well on offense although his batting average won't show it.

Re: Minor Matters

6403
Thanks for posting those game lines. Lots of swallow, but I saw some solid hitting by Catcher Li-Jen Chu and 1st round pick Will Benson. Lots of Ks by Merryweather. A tiny bit of work by Dylan Baker.

Looking to see if Pitchers Bieber and Civale and OF Calica get pushed right up to Lynchburg after good work in Mahoning Valley. The pitchers didn't work many innings after their busy college summers. Calica hit the ball like mad, although he apparently lacks power and speed so his ceiling at upper levels is in doubt, but BA thinks the batting average skills alone could get him to the majors

Re: Minor Matters

6404
Calica has some speed. Had 15 steals in only 178 AB's. That would equal out to about 50 in a full season.

He also had 10 doubles and 6 triples. Which would equal out to over 30 and 20 in a full season.

Now he hit .382 with an OBP of .474, which he probably would never do in a full season, so not like I would expect that, but just saying there is some at least decent speed with him.

He also has a range factor in CF that is on par with Andrew McCutcheon and Joc Pederson types.

Only 3 homers so maybe a 10 HR guy, so I would definitely agree with not a lot of power.

They moved him up to Lake County to finish the season last year but only for 10 games. If he starts there I wouldn't expect him to stay long if he keeps producing. At 22 or 23 he'll need to be on fast track.

It's amazing how many names in those box scores, I say to myself "Who are those guys ?"

I keep forgetting the amount of turnover in the organization from year to year.

When I use to go to Winter Haven, I would pick up a list of all the Minor League players in camp that year at their clubhouse. I would bring that list back the following year and compare it to the new camp roster. The turnover made me appreciate how hard it is to be a professional baseball player.
