IF Bruce wants to play for a winner, he'll agree to come to Cleveland. If he can stand life in boring Cincinnati, he can survive Cleveland.

Anybody that had the Yankees, Red Sox, and Blue Jays on his no trade list last year is just looking for a pay off. Sure, I'll come play for you, how much you gonna give me to waive that clause?
Nah, screw that. I wouldn't give him an extra dime. Waive it and come play for a pennant or rot there where nobody will know your name.

Anybody been to the park since the new additions? I'm planning a trip for later this season and was wondering about The District and The Corner. Anybody experience those yet?

I just got District tickets for 2 games in September against Tigers. Comes with a free drink each day for 13 bucks. The Melt restaurant is in that area too, and I saw where it was just voted by USA Today as one of the best ballpark foods. Gotta give it a shot. I've sat just about everywhere in the park so I'll try something new.

Agreed, I think it's largely--or entirely--strategic.

I'm going to Tribe games on Fri & Sat, Sept. 16 & 17th. And going to Browns-Ravens on the 18th.
If any of you happen to be at any of those games give me a shout. Always great to see ya'll.
J.R. told me he is going to try to make it.

Detroit Free Press writer today tells the Tigers to give up on the season; don't make more deadline deals to pick up old guys with big salaries, instead follow the Indians' lead and dump some of the older players for young talent. [or course Detroit won't be able to do quite what we did, since we traded Lee and Sabathia and others when their salaries were low. Tigers have overpaid oldtimers with years remaining on their contracts.
How much is anyone to offer them for Pelfrey, who is on the first year of an idiot contract?
Ian Kinsler is still decent but he's owed $14M for this year; $21M for the next two years.
Etc.

Cavs won a series against ATL, then another v. Toronto, then went to the Finals and won.
Starting tonight, Indians play a series against ATL, then one v. Toronto...

It's actually Detroit-Atlanta-Toronto.
Cavs played Pistons in 1st round and Indians played Tigers.
Indians kidded around with Cavs on Twitter about it. Said the schedule must be "rigged". (trolling Curry's wife)

Interesting to note, in 204 at bats Uribe has put up similiar numbers to that of Gio Urshela in 288 at bats last year.
Urshela ... 288 AB ... 6 HR ... .225 BA ... .279 OBP
Uribe ... 204 AB ... 7 HR ... .226 BA ... .279 OBP
Uribe has shown a little more power, but Urshela better defensively. But all in all, we must do better at 3rd. Ridiculous to commend the Tribe for signing a veteran to improve offense at 3rd but act like Uribe is doing the job.
July and the hot stove is just around the corner. And for the stretch run I would like to see the Tribe make 3 moves.
First, an easy one. Bring up Yandy Diaz to play 3rd base. Hitting .303 with a .377 OBP at Columbus. 4 homers in 152 at bats. Not a ton of power, but just as good as we're getting, but should get on base more. And at age 24 room to get even better.
Next, I'd try to add a back end lefty reliever. A guy that we can match up against lefties late in games, maybe even use in the 9th on occasion. Shouldn't be too difficult.
Lastly, I would try to pry either Goldschmidt away from the D'Backs or Freeman away from the Braves. I feel like we are a stud hitter in the middle of the lineup away from being a legit contender for the World Series. Both Goldschmidt and Freeman have just entered their prime, and signed to long term deals I feel like the Indians could afford. And while you don't go trading away guys like that often, neither of those teams are going anywhere and both teams, especially Arizona who constantly ranks among leagues worst minor league system, could use an infusion of prospects. And we have enough legit pitching prospects throughout our system top to bottem to get it done. Not to mention 3 young CF'ers in Naquin/Frazier/Zimmer. A good looking shortstop in Gonzalez. We have assets to deal.
Goldschmidt being a righty, would be preferable, but Freeman would be a solid add as well.
Napoli hits 20 points higher against lefties. Santana 24 points higher against righties. That would be a formidable platoon at DH and further strengthen middle of lineup.
Imagine if Brantley came back 100% before seasons end. A lineup something like this going into October ...
1- Lindor
2- Kipnis
3-Brantley
4- Goldschmidt
5- Napoli / Santana platoon at DH
6- Chisenhall
7- Naquin
8- Gomes
9- Diaz 3B
With our pitching I would feel pretty good about going to battle with that lineup, and would be contenders for the next few years.

11 in a row, last time we did that was 1982.
That year we finished 78-84 and tied for last in AL East. (When it had 7 teams)
So don't rest on your laurels, fellas. As Ken would say, keep grinding.

I thought the last time we did that was 2013/14. Could be wishful thinking.

No, it was '82 since we won 11 in a row. Manning was on that team and they talked to him about it in pregame. And showed a banner on TV when game ended that said same thing.
And only 8th time in club history that they won 11 in a row.
If I remember correctly, yesterday they said the last time we won 10 in a row was 2001.
