What part did you live, Civ?

I lived in Eastpointe (used to be East Detroit, until the citizens decided they didn't want to be associated with Detroit) for a short while.

Back and forth from Ann Arbor to Dearborn Heights to Ann Arbor.

I thought "Eastpointe" managed to get the "Grosse Pointe" name in there somewhere, like Grosse Pointe Heights or something.

Civ, I dunno about that. 11 years ago when I was there it was just Eastpointe. Might have changed since then.

It's nothing like Grosse Pointe. Very nice houses there. Great neighborhood. Eastpointe has bars on the windows.

Don doesn't read or post here any more. Hasn't in 5 years.
That was from his Twitter account.

David Murphy

David Murphy has decided to retire from baseball.

We figured this was coming after Murphy opted out of his contract with Minnesota Monday so he could spend more time with his family. The 34-year-old played for four teams across 10 major league seasons. He spent most of his career with Texas, appearing in both the 2010 and 2011 World Series. In 3,467 major league at-bats, Murphy hit .274 with 104 HR, 472 RBI and 54 SB.

At 34 he can have a nice long time with his family. And if he's been smart about it, he's got plenty of money on hand to support them all very well.

Only Moss and Raburn of the 5 OF's we traded or dumped are in the majors. Swisher may be on the verge of joining the Yankees:

"Swisher, who was signed to a minor league deal earlier this month after being released by the Braves in spring training, is hitting .382 with two homers in 34 at-bats for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre and would seem like the most logical candidate for a promotion. The 35-year-old Swisher also would be an option to spell Mark Teixeira at first base."

Raburn has 3 homers in 27 AB for the Rockies.
Moss is hitting 170 but 1/2 of his 8 hits have been homers, another 1/4 doubles.
Bourn has started two games for the Dunedin Blue Jays in Class A. Hitting 143 with a steal.

Swisher is actually a perfect, cheap depth guy for the Yankees.

He's been through the NY scene, so no problem there. He is a left handed bat, with that right field porch he liked so much.

And Texeira is getting older, can use the break. Plus Swish can DH. If someone goes down on the corner OF, he can fill in - Beltran is no spring chicken in RF either.

Hillbilly, do you remember the "Lindell's Athletic Club?"

Cody Anderson returned to Columbus, just when we need a solid corps of starters to fill in for Carrasco. Crockett called up.

TJ House started last night for Clippers: 5-7-2-2-1-1. For the season 20-25-10-10-8-14. Not ready for a return.

Tito loves those relievers, we may not need another starter for a week or so. That may be the idea.

Nah, Tito loves those relievers.

He'll never get a job in the NL, unless they go for the DH. He'd have to keep a deeper bench and a slimmer pen. What would he do with only 6 relievers?

[Of course he doesn't really find a lot of use for the back of the pen he has. Joba could be reading some pretty long novels this spring.]
