And the other guy that was going to Milwaukee in the Lucroy deal ...

Indians Prospective ‏@indiansPro
RubberDucks OF Greg Allen just scored his 100th run of the season. Allen is the 1st #Indians Milb player since Peralta in 2004 to score 100.

Urshela singles in 3rd to extend his hitting streak to 19 games.

Clippers had an offensive explosion tonight, winning 17-4. Zimmer was 4-6 with 2 doubles. Yandy 2-5 with a homer. Urshela was 4-6 and Gonzalez 2-6. Plutko allowed 2 runs in 6 innings with 8 K.

Ducks won 8-2. Allen was 1-4. Kaminsky had a great outing. 5 shutout innings. 3 hits and 5 K.

Lynchburg falls 13-6. Mejia just had the 1 double and a walk. Mathias 2-5. Wrote Santander off too quick, he is hot again, 3-4 with a double. Bradley 0-4.

Captains lose 5-2 but story was McKenzie making his debut. 5.1 IP, 4H, 3 R, 11 K.

Scrappers win 6-5. G.Mejia 2-3 with a walk and a SB. Calica 1-4 with a triple.

#Indians 2016 2nd Round Draft Pick (3B) @Nolan_Jones10 has reached base so far in every game to start his professional career at 17 straight

.

Jones has not shown any power yet. He only has 2 extra base hits so far and those were doubles. But he has shown an ability to get on base.

Bradley hit #21 tonight.

Yandy got a hit to extend his streak to 25 games. Urshela and Frankie were both off today.

Armstrong struck out 2 of the 3 hitters he faced in his inning. And Ben Krauth had another scoreless outing. 3.2 IP, 2 hits, 4 K. 0.00 ERA still.

Indians Prospective @IndiansPro

Santander and Bradley rank 6th and 7th in all of MiLB in RBI with 86 and 84.

Yandy is second in MiLB in OBP among hitters with at least 400 ABs at .425

Ben Krauth's numbers on year so far ...

#Indians OF prospect Greg Allen has reached base in 89 of his 102 games played so far in 2016. Good for a .414 OBP.

#Indians OF Greg Allen continues to expand his ridiculous Milb lead on runs scored on the season.
1) Allen 102
2) Cozens 90
3) Moncada 85

Clippers won big this evening. 14-5. Eric Gonzalez went 4-6 with 3 doubles and a SB. Have yourself a day young man! ... Urshela hit a homer to extend his hitting streak. His off day yesterday has caused me to lose count but I think it's 20 straight now. Yandy and Zimmer had the day off. Merritt pitched 8 innings, 9 H, 2 ER, 8 K.

Akron lost 5-3. Greg Allen was 1-4 with a double.

Lynchburg got beat 11-2. Bradley 0-4. Santander 0-2 with 2 walks. Mathias 1-5. Frankie gets yet another day off.

Lake County wins 7-2. A reliever named Jon Fitzsimmons pitched 2 innings and struck out all 6 batters he faced. This guy was out of baseball last year. I don't recognize his name. I know we signed some guys following the trade. He must be one.

Scrappers lose 3-2 when closer allows 2 runs in 9th. Gabe Mejia 2-3 with a walk. Calica 0-3.

Good stuff, Lou. Thanks. I follow LGT on Twitter but hadn't seen that article yet.

I'm glad they wrote about his defense. The Indians started playing him in the corner OF to make him more diverse. Another Ramirez type that can play multiple positions. Tito, and any manager, loves those type guys. And I think some people got the wrong impression, that he was not good defensively.

.

Yes, Diaz shows promise at the plate with excellent contact and a patient approach, but what about his glove work? I'll defer to the professionals here. In its 2016 annual Baseball Prospectus wrote, "[Diaz] has another calling card that the stat line doesn't show: he's one of the best defensive third basemen in the minor leagues."

In June, former MLB scout Bernie Pleskoff wrote, "Diaz is an outstanding defensive infielder. While his normal position was second base in Cuba, he has played most of his games at third base in the Indians organization. He has shown good range with quick reactions, excellent instincts, and solid agility. His first step quickness to both directions and coming in on balls is an asset

Clip show hold on to win 6-5. And somebody has pissed Eric Gonzalez off. He has been killing it since returning to Columbus. 2-4 tonight with a double and homer. Yandy extends his hit streak to 26 going 1-4 with a walk. Urshela extends his streak to 21 going 3-5 with a double. Zimmer went 1-3 with a walk and had a nice defensive gem throwing a runner out at 3rd from CF. Perci Garner continues his nice season out of the pen working a perfect 9th for the save.

Ducks and Hillcats were both off tonight. Frankie is going to have 3 days off in a row now. Hope that doesn't cool his bat off.

Captains won 5-1. Not many prospects to follow there right now but Jodd Carter is a guy who is starting to really open some eyes of late. He went 0-4 tonight though, but still hitting .348. He is only 20 years old.

Scrappers lost 5-2. Hillman is really falling behind McKenzie now. He got smacked around again tonight. 3.2 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K. ... Gabe Mejia and Andrew Calica continue their hot hitting though. Mejia 2-4. Calica 3-4 with a double. Calica is 20 years old and was our 11th round pick out of UC Santa Barbera this year. Same school as Ben Krauth, who is also killing it. UC Santa Barbera has been berry berry good to Mahoning Valley. Calica gives us yet another CF prospect to keep an eye on possibly.

* I corrected this later, but just a note, I confused Ben Krauth, who went to Kansas, with another pitcher we drafted, Shane Bieber, who went to UC SB. *

Columbus wins 3-0 tonight behind strong pitching by Morimando. 5.1 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 3 K.. Yandy extends his hit streak to 27 games, going 1-4 with a walk. Eric Gonzalez is still angry about being sent down, hitting 2 more homers tonight! Urshela's hit streak ends at 21 going 0-4. Zimmer was 0-3 with a walk and a CS.

Akron won 6-2. Allen was 0-5, Papi was 3-4 with a double.

Lynchburg scores in the 9th to win 2-1. Frankie goes 3-4 with a double. Amazing. He also threw out 1 of 2 base stealers. Bradley 2-4.

Lake County wins 2-0. Carter 1-3 with a walk.

Batavia scores 1 in the 11th to go ahead 6-5. But the MV Scrappers would not be deterred, scoring 4 in the bottom of the 11th and a walk off 3 run homer by Todd Isaacs to win 9-6. Isaacs second homer of the night. G.Mejia 1-4 with 2 walks. Calica 2-4 and Logan Ice 2-5 with a double. I said last night that the pitcher we drafted from UC Santa Barbera was Krauth, but I got them confused. I'm still trying to get to know these recent draftees, my apologies. Krauth went to Kansas. The pitcher we drafted out of UC Santa Barbera was Shane Bieber, in the 4th round. And he pitched tonight for MV. 3 IP, 1 H, 0R, 2 K

I haven't been following the Arizona league real closely. Just peeked in on them, see how our draftees are doing.

Oscar Gonzalez isn't a draftee but he has caught some attention this year and has been keeping up his hitting. Went 2-3 last night with a double. On the year he's hitting .298 with 7 doubles, 2 triples, and 8 homers in 114 AB's. But he has 44 K's to only 2 walks. .314 OBP. Despite his .605 SLG% it's hard for me to get excited.

Our 1st round pick Will Benson is hitting .227 in 114 at bats. 7 dbl, 2 tpl, and 5 HR. He's struck out 36 times to 16 walks. .341 OBP and .464 SLG%. Signs of potential but lot's of work to do.

Nolan Jones hasn't shown any power yet but he is hitting .275 with a .420 OBP. 2 doubles his only extra base hits so far but definitely some potential there.

Nothing else going on in Arizona that catches my attention.
