Papi on the mlb.com prospect team of the week:

OF: Mike Papi, Indians (No. 18 prospect)
10 G, .314/.457/.800, 9 R, 5 2B, 4 HR, 9 RBI, 9 BB, 7 SO

The top hitter on a Virginia team that finished runner-up at the 2014 College World Series, Papi was a supplemental first-round pick that June but batted a disappointing .221/.346/.334 in his first two years in pro ball. So far this season, he looks more like the guy the Indians thought they were getting. He's repeating high Class A and his four homers already match his total from 2015.

Lynchburg first pitch was 10:37 a.m. Justin Merryweather who I don't think is supposed to considered a prospect improves to 3-0 and keeps his ERA at a nifty 0.00. Hillcats win 7-0.

17 2/3 15 0 0 2 14 stats for the 24 year old who at that age should at least be in AA. Maybe he will be soon?
He came in to the season with a 2-year career record of 3-5.

Meanwhile the deep Lynchburg lineup got its strength today from:

Bradley 3 run homer, his 3rd; and he walked; and struck out only once
Chang double and his 3rd homer; and 2 K
Mathias single and double.

Captains pouring it on in the middle innings, now up 8-1 in the seventh. The irrepressible Francisco Mejia has doubled and singled twice, his average is now 439 [but also gidp]. The top 4 in the lineup are:

Nathan Lukes 319, 2 singles today 21 year old CF
Willie Castro 336, single and walk today 18 year old SS
Tyler Krieger 319, single and walk today 22 year old 2B
Mejia 20 year old C

Solid pitching from Matt Esparza 6-2-1-1-1-7 coming in he had an ERA of 9.72
