One of the numerous reasons the team has a serious losing record:
Entering today's games our starters ranked
No. 23, No. 26, No. 32 and No. 35 in ERA among AL pitchers. That's a pretty good mark of mediocrity. Which really disappoints, because they were as a group coming into their own; and because they are as a group a bunch of hard-throwing strike out pitchers.

Yan Gomes alerted Terry Francona at 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday that he was ready to be re-inserted in the starting lineup.

Well, they are off it until after Labor Day, so there is a "window of opportunity."

For Rusty and the rasslin fans out there. Everyone knows the King is a Cleveland fan. He was at the ballpark today.

Remember the good old days when I could change the forum background? I used to make it flags or fireworks for the Fourth. And what an uproar that caused!

Good riddance, assassin of our beloved Tribe!!
Miguel Cabrera - 1B - Tigers
Miguel Cabrera is expected to be sidelined for six weeks with a grade 3 left calf strain.
The Tigers had hoped that he would be ready to return shortly after the All-Star break, but it appears that the All-Star slugger will be on the shelf until late August.
It will be interesting to see if the Tigers look to acquire a bat to replace Cabrera in the lineup, or if his untimely injury will force Dave Dombrowski to become a seller at the trade deadline.

just curious: does the Tribe play Detroit over the next 6 weeks? I'll bet he's back for our next series for the Tigers and goes 10-13 again.

ESPN six writers post their All Star picks. Kipnis is of course unanimous choice for 2nd base.
5 of the 6 included Kluber on their pitching staffs; the only starters who got 6 votes were Keuchel and Price and Hernandez. Archer got 5 votes, none below 4th but one guy leaves him off.Gray had 4 votes [those who liked him picked him from 1-4]. Sale got a 1st and 2 4th and 3 blanks. Assigning points to the rankings, Kluber is their consensus 7th choice. How many starters will be picked? Most of the six writers assume six, a couple assume seven.

Fangraphics includes Kluber on their 8 man starting contingent [the other is Bucholz].
Kipnis has the highest WAR in the AL with 4.6 which some of you can appreciate more than I can.
"With those picks, we get the following starting line-up:
1. Jason Kipnis, 2B
2. Mike Trout, RF
3. Prince Fielder, DH
4. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
5. Josh Donaldson, 3B
6. Brett Gardner, LF
7. Russell Martin, C
8. Lorenzo Cain, CF
9. Jose Iglesias, SS"
Even got a Royal in there!

took a look at Fangraphics stats. Chisenhall has a 4.0 defensive rating, Urshela -0.5. What do they see that we don't?
Gio beats Lonnie on offense, however, -1.5 to -5.1. Despite those lousy numbers, he seems pretty good to m.e

You could check the schedule, but I did it for you. We don't play them again until September 4.

That's what I thought, but was too lazy to look. I waste my baseball time on minor league details. If you're interested in some solid hitting prospects, take a look at the Lynchburg Five, details in the Minors folder.

@IndiansAccounts:
#Indians RHP @Cody_Anderson40 numbers through his first 3 major league starts:
- 23.2(IP) 14H 2R 2ER 1BB 10SO 0.76 ERA .171 AVG
.
Anderson has become the first pitcher to go at least 7.2 innings in each of his first 3 major league starts since 1992 when Tim Wakefield did it for Pirates.
