More Manny fodder:
From the Book PEDRO by Pedro Martinez:
"After falling behind 3-0 to the Yankees in the ALCS (in 2004). the Sox took ritual pre game sips from a jug full of Brazilian roots, bark and twigs steeped in alcohol and seasoned with ground up tablets of Viagra, a concoction mixed by outfielder Manny Ramirez. They won eight straight games and the team's first World Series since 1918"
Surely Tito has or can get the recipe.

on the roster moves upcoming,
Swarzak may have earned himself the right to be DFA'd and that will save our marginal prospects from the scrap heap. Although that will open room for the 5th starter, it will also leave Tito short of his minimum 7-man bullpen contingent, so Adams or Crockett or Lee would win a promotion and we'd still have to dump someone from the bench brigade, nearly all of whom are old outfielders.

ESPN reporter Darren Rovell says these will NOT be the hats that players will wear during the game.
Note that the Cleveland block "C" is barely readable between the stripes.

Today in Tribe history - 1981: Len Barker pitches a 3-0 perfect game against the Toronto Blue Jays. This is the last no-hitter thrown by a Tribe pitcher.
Bruce Chen goes for the Tribe tonight. What are the odds that he will duplicate Barker's feat?

Good news on Bruce:
1. Tito got him out of there early enough, we actually wound up winning.
2. He's gone.

Tribe still on the hook for the remainder of his salary. I assume he signed for the veteran minimum.

I've found the explanation for the lack of success of this year's team to be rather hard to establish. Starting pitching is still quite good. Hitting is picking up and sometimes they score plenty of runs. I don't like Francona's bullpen management but it's no different from past years. Defense is inadequate but no more so than last year.
At last I figured it out:
Joe has left the Forum. Blame it all on one man. Which means there's an easy solution, too:
COME BACK JOE, The Tribe NEEDS YOU.

Looks like JOE hasn't even checked in since April 29. In the words of "Hawk" Harrelson: "He gone!"

Shaun Marcum (4-0 w/1.36 ERA in Columbus) will start Wednesday in Chicago -- he made his first MLB appearance since 2013 for us in April.

on deck, after Marcum, is probably Michael Roth, who's a lefty who's also done well with the Clippers. But I am much less pessimistic about Marcum than I was about the newly retired Mr. Chen.

That guy is hugely missed. Both in terms of catching, and being a somewhat dependable RH bat in this lineup.
Hopefully it isn't too late, but a welcome event that he is back already
