Francona: Raburn has been dealing with sore R wrist since hitting OF wall in ST vs. Cubs. Re-aggrevated it 8/13 vs. Az with catch in RF.

Gotta love this group of Indians! We have a great pullpen! I know because the all time pessimist sea like'em! Starting pitching is very young and loaded with upside. The infield including catcher is playoff worth as is Brantley. CF, RF and DH are just plain awful which is what is holding us back. Walters, Agulara from Columbus and a healthy Bourn and Swisher would go a long way.

FORGET free agency, dumb chief wahoo and trade Kipnes and Chiz for a legit starting pitcher!!!!

Ok. The St. Louis cardinals are officially kicking themselves repeatedly for giving up a nice young outfielder for an utterly useless Masterson. Any AAA scrub they had trotted out there could have done better. Damaged goods. All the more reason to be wary of long term commitments to SPs.

Follow up

Justin Masterson - S - Cardinals

Justin Masterson was roughed up again Sunday, giving up five runs over three innings in a loss to the Phillies.

Masterson didn't have much of anything, as he gave up six hits and walked two in his three innings of work. This marks the fourth subpar start in five turns since joining the Cardinals, owning a 7.43 ERA and 1.65 WHIP through 23 innings.

With the Cardinals in a playoff hunt and Masterson getting lit up at every turn, it wouldn't be surprising if they started looking elsewhere for starts very soon.

Put Masty in the bullpen Cards. At least that's better than nothing.

that 7.43 ERA is despite one 7 inning shutout start. The other four games have been just awful

Also, see:

Jiminez, Ubaldo

But I'd still like to try a deal for Kluber. He seems to have a pitching style that's less prone to high and low points. But any pitcher can blow out his elbow, so.....

4 years for a guy like Kluber works for me.

@IndiansAccounts:

Walters is homering once every 9.6 at bats.

And ...

@Indians:
Of Walters' 6 HRs with the Tribe ...
+ 4 have given the team the lead
+ 2 have tied the game

Keep that up and he'll be challenging Bonds' totals in a decade or so.

Great move picking up a guy who is at least a useful roster piece for Asdrubal. Worked for Cabby too since he seems to have found new life in DC.

BTW, they use him exclusively at 2B which may be a great answer for him. His fielding at SS may have gotten into his head. And 2B was not an option on the Indians.

Win/win.

Peralta by contrast had been moved off SS by the Tribe and returned there since with surprising success.
