I went out to my car to listen to the end, after I saw that Pronk had tied it up. Buck was overanxious, but KIPNIS came through!

I'm still on JR going to the car to catch the end of the game via radio.

I'm reminded of the day I once strung a couple hundred feet of wire in an attempt to help bring the WWWE signal in better on the 1 1/2 acre foreclosure property I bought in South Carolina in 1981.

Also- The OBP for Carlos is nice, but he's on the club to be a run producer, and that means getting more basehits, including a healthy mix of the XBH variety.

I posted his OPS and not OBP. I think OPS is the accepted number to rate all hitters. Santana is currently the third best hitting catcher in the AL according to his OPS number. May not like it, just the facts.

Rusty2- I was commenting on the Tribe announcers harping on the OBP of Carlos.

I know that OPS is the Moneyball accepted standard of judging players now, but I'm an old school dinosaur who doesn't trust numbers without some subjective judgement thrown in .

My subjective view is that he is not doing the job up to expectations of most .

I remember as a kid being thrilled as my Dad drove past the Sinclair dinosaurs being toted on flatbed trucks in Ohio.

Nice job of hitting by Kipnis there. Took the outside pitch the other way and really drove the ball. Double

MLB Network's Peter Gammons reports that the Indians offered to pick up all of Carlos Beltran's remaining salary, as well as give up a good player in return, but Beltran decided he didn't want to go to Cleveland.

Gammons doesn't necessarily say there was a deal in place and Beltran nixed it, but it's clear he wants to go to a team he thinks has a good chance to win a title, and he doesn't think the Indians fit that bill. The veteran outfielder has a full no-trade clause and might only waive it for the Rangers, Giants, Phillies, Braves or Brewers.

I'd wager Beltran's "winners" list would be San Francisco, Arizona,

Helluva run and dive and catch by Michael Brantley to save a double....

Back to Beltran....

San Francisco, Arizona, Boston, New York and likely The Angels.

I bet he wouldn't want to go to Texas.

Tribe announcers note Sabathia is perfect though 5, facing The Mariners with their 16 game losing streak.

MLB Channel has the game live.

7 K's in a row for Sabathia with one out in the 6th.

And the heavens in New York now open up with a deluge and the players leave the field.

(did you do that Hillbilly??)

Let's get Tomlin some runs. He has a masterpiece going through 6 innings and a complete game is within sight.

We've hit some balls hard off Weaver, but still scoreless after 5 1/3.

Tigers down early to the ChiSux. A win tonight could put us back in first place.

Santana stands in with 2 down in our 6th.

He has one of our four hits.

And on to the 7th in a scoreless game.
