Of course with present World Series home team rules I do want the AL to win the All Star Game in 2011. Maybe I will pay closer attention tomorrow that I have in past years.
I remember (was it Sparky) the AL manager getting boo'ed at Muni for not starting Lenny Barker. What was that -- 81 or 82?

I'm not looking it up, but didn't we have the All Star Game in the 1st strike year? Dave Garcia?

Fausto Carmona (quad) threw a 50-pitch simulated game Thursday and is aiming to return Monday.
Carmona felt no lingering pain or discomfort in his once-strained right quad during or after the 50-pitch workout. He told reporters afterward that he's ready to return to the Indians' starting rotation Monday against the Twins.

We ARE in 1st place as the 2nd half begins for the Tigers.

Here's hoping they do not trip over any of their home town/downtown needles.

One game at a time.

Must have been '81. I remember Cleveland was awarded the All-Star game "a bit ahead of schedule" and then it looked kind of ironic that it might be canceled, due to the strike ... I think that was also the year that Toby Harrah was leading the AL in batting (or nearly so), the NL was winning the game, and the TV commentators were dissing the AL coaching staff for leaving Harrah on the bench ...

Hope he spent a few sessions with a sports psychologist during his break too. Or by watching less-talented Josh Tomlin pitch.

This one's going back and forth and looks like we'll wind up with plenty of scoring.

Tribe first 2 hits, Hafner DP, no runs.
O's first. Tomlin sets down 1,2,3
Tribe second, OC double, LaP rbi single 1-0
O's second, Tomlin gives up 2 solo homers. It;s a a good thing he has a very low WHIP. 1-2
Tribe third, Brantley single. AC 2 run homer. 3-2

That makes 17 homers off Tomlin, moves into a tie for 2nd in the league with 17.

he's also second with triples against, and 12th in doubles.

But first in fewest walks.

And no one has even tried to steal a base against him!!

two out double by Andrew Jones ties it in the 3rd. This is unfortunately the Tomlin I expected, not the Tomlin we've actually had. Deadlocked heading to the 4th.

5 White Sox singles and a walk equal 4 runs off Verlander in the 3rd, Sox up 4-0

Sizemore makes a deposit in the right center seats with two outs and gets The Tribe two runs.

5-3 us in the 5th.

Wind apparently in the hitter's favor as that was the 4th home run of the game.

No one mentioned that Santana dropped a throw at home that had the runner by 3 steps to allow the third Oriole run with 2 outs.
