I'm glad you finally came out of hiding and took me off your ignore list :P

Have to take you off ignore when Chris Perez comes out and proves you and many others completely wrong.

Instead of admitting you were wrong you make excuses and question how I feel about Perez. Where did I say I feel differently about Perez ? I told you he disagreed with you and others.

Then TFISC comes out and mentions that Shapiro hired Acta. Not sure what that has to do with this conversation either but I guess that is easier then saying that I was right too.

Stat of the day for the season finale: At the halfway point of the season, the Indians were 42-39. On that same day, Western Division champion Oakland was 41-42.

I'm not speaking for TFISC, but if I'm assuming properly, Shapiro, Dolan, AND Antonneti knew EXACTLY what they were getting when they hired Acta.

Manny Acta managed the Nationals for 2 1/2 years. Just like ballplayers, those bumpkins have a hard time judging talent.

Manny Acta had a certain style of managing in Washington. That never changed. He didn't stray that far from the path in Cleveland. He even admitted publicly that he was not about to change his managing style just a couple of weeks ago.

So! In a sense, Shapiro and Acta in the same sentence has a lot to do with this conversation.

All the problems within this organization should not be placed on Manny Acta's shoulders. Maybe, maybe one day, these guys will get it right. It's hard to believe though that after 10 years of practice we're right back at the beginning.

Joe. Bottom line is that Acta blows and will never be a MLB manager again. But you are lucky because he can manage in the beer and steroid leagues that you love to watch skanky women in.

Enjoy !

Wait, there's a league with skanky women? You were right to bring this to my attention.

Shapiro and Antonutty have to shoulder some blame for all of this.

Lets begin with managers, in an attempt to bring them up from below, save money, and probably exercise more control, they brought Wedge up. His Svengali like hold and hard headedness ruined us for many years. He stayed way too long. In the meanwhile we had guys directing our Minor League clubs to success while Shapiro fiddled. Oh and also we had Bud Black, Farrell, and Buck Showalter. Lets not also forget that they let a perfectly good manager and excellent hitting coach go in Charlie Manuel .

Now Acta being hired had to be a case of simply money.

But now they see Francona. He wont save any money to be sure but it gives them a little hold on Dolan in preserving their jobs a bit longer It goes something like this: "We have determined that what we have lacked is a proven winner to lead this team, someone whose track record goes way beyond anyone we have had."

What nonsense, all those Ivy League degrees do not help in Baseball but they sure help in the BS department.

Of course, they do. They basically have to accept all of the blame since they are in charge. I just feel that they may have a better chance with a better manager.

Exercise more control. Anyone that pays attention knows that Shapiro gives complete control to his manager over coaches and personnel. So there is no exercising more control.

Example. Did Shapiro or Wedge get rid of the pitching coach right before the season ? (Mike Brown)

Washington Nationals Fire Manny Acta

WASHINGTON (AP) –

So much for the plan to have Manny Acta’s patient optimism lead the Washington Nationals out of the doldrums. The abysmal won-loss record became too much to stomach, costing him his job at the All-Star break and adding another layer of instability to the worst team in baseball...................................

“The only problem with our team is that there’s not that sense of urgency to win,” Zimmerman said. “I think we’re better than what we’ve shown. Maybe this will wake some people up.

“Some people there are so used to losing they don’t have that fire to win. I think there needs to be accountability and some responsibility taken. We have the built-in excuse of being young, but we’re not that young anymore.”

Yet Acta always remained upbeat, preaching patience and emphasizing the importance of keeping an even keel — so much so that some wondered whether he needed to show more fire and perhaps be more critical publicly when his players made mistakes. Rizzo said Acta’s style made it more difficult for the team to recover from an 0-7 start.

“The response was from a slow start out of the gates, and then getting into a hole that they felt they couldn’t get out of, I think that was a big part of it,” Rizzo said. “And sometimes the even-keel-ness plays into that by not being a little more vocal, a little bit more hard-edged.”...........................

When Acta was hired in November 2006, he was 37, and no manager in the majors was younger. In his first season, Washington finished 73-89, fourth in the NL East and better than was expected. Acta even received votes for NL Manager of the Year.

But the team took a step backward in 2008, going 59-102, the worst record in the majors. Every coach except pitching coach Randy St. Claire was fired at the end of the season, and St. Claire was dismissed at the beginning of June

[Everyone in baseball knew about Manny Acta's style of managing. Did Mark Shapiro and Co. have a major brain fart when they hired Acta? If Rizzo thought his team was unstable and in the doldrums, how would one catagorize Mark Shapiro and the Cleveland Indians organization after its ten year run at mediocrity? It just blows my mind that the bed partners continually fail to judge talent on ALL levels.]

Kind'a funny but sad at the same time to watch these guys continually set themselves up to fail and then blame the "other" guys.
