Antonetti should be fired for that comment alone. This current roster got exactly what it deserved.

Not sure why they waited to fire Acta with just 6 games left either. If the Indians wanted to have a good look at Alomar, they could have fired Acta a month ago.

Antonetti said something about how they had end-of-year meetings scheduled, and it would be better to do those w/o Manny?

Here is the answer: - The Indians fired Acta with six games left because they have a series of meetings with the players and the coaching staff scheduled this week. Antonetti didn't want Acta sitting through those meeting with his fate already sealed.

Needless to say, but this news comes as a major disappointment to me.

Everyone associated with a major league baseball club knows where the real problems lie within this organization and why ballplayers refuse to sign with the Indians.

Three major reasons: Ownership, Management, and a Commitment to Win!

The Three Headed Stooge within this organization is pointing fingers in the wrong direction and that's all I am going to say regarding the dismissal of Manny Acta.

I am waiting in great anticipation for the end of the season and when the gag order is lifted off of the head of Chris Perez.

Because it is in Cleveland.

When Perez talks he is going to say that Acta quit and that Acta is a flatliner. No energy and no balls to get into anyone's face. Same with umpires.

They did the same thing with Wedge. He was also fired with 6 games left in the season, and practically the same record (64-92).

I still say a good front office presentation should be able to overcome that objection, if indeed it is one.

The players only have 81 games a season in Cleveland, plus whatever off season time they spend in Ohio facilities instead of in Arizona. Most of those 81 games are when the weather and social opportunities are fine in Northeastern Ohio.

81 games are just a nick in the 365 days of the year.

Even at MLB minimum they have spare bucks to jet off for more fun stuff on weekends in the off season if they happen to be in Cleveland and not Arizona.

I HATED living in the Chicago suburbs for two years in my career, but negotiated a nice deal to go there and spent nary a weekend there while it was my "work place."

Since we've confirmed today that Chris Antonetti only leaves his family three times a year to travel with "His Team," and we can guess Mark Shapiro leaves his family for "His Team" even less, I don't think they have a strong feeling for overcoming "the Cleveland objection"...if there is one....... with an effective close.

Coffee is for closers.

If you think GM's travel with teams a lot you are badly mistaken.

We've gone from a team that surges in August to one that collapses in August. What's that all about? Is that a managerial effect?

Chris Perez at it again. Front office probably thinks that the next problem will walk out the door when Perez gets traded this winter.

Nick Camino ‏@CaminoTribe
#Indians closer Chris Perez said "most of the problems walked out the door last week." Obviously meaning Acta firing.

Is this the same person that's been calling Chris Perez and the Cleveland Indians quitters for half a season now?

Is this the same person that's been calling Chris Perez a crybaby everytime he opened his mouth?

Where's all the man love coming from ?
