I think you and I are the only one's that share that thought Civ. We are definitely in the minority.
Depends how important they think it is to win maybe 5 more games next year than they would otherwise. If not so important, gotta look at a trade.

Oh, I get it. BS !

Man, I really thought your memory and reading and retention skills were better.

Of course "Moneyball" had fluff. It came from frickin' Hollywood. Unfortunately Shapironetti World of today and Our Fandom is 100% REALITY.

We traded Mark Shapiro's "prize" off season acquisition of his anointed $5 million dollar Mark De Rosa for Chris Perez.....after the De Rosa Five Million Dollar signing and trade had bottomed out early in an early losing season.

No surprise.

I think the Tribe front office was just titillated that De Rosa's wife had been named one of the hottest MLB wives by a sports publication.

Fortunately, Shapiro luckily landed a winner in Perez.

Chris Perez, the same guy the front office now is working harder than they ever do on drafts to build press and PR rationale for the Chris Perez jettison because he called their ineptitude out in public......as most fans had already done. Except you.

If it makes you feel any better, I will never be a Cleveland Indians Fan ever again in my life if Shapironetti World remains as is before 2013 Spring Training.

Life has much more fun things than the Shapironetti World Cleveland Indians offer.

Cali - I think you & I are on the same frequency. I'm fed up with current owner/managment situation. We keep getting worse & worse. They won't use free agency to improve the club, scouting is horrendous and management has never been involved with baseball.

Just remember what the definition of insanity is. Trying the same thing over and over and over expecting better results.

This is the worst pitching staff I have ever seen with this organization. 2 or 3 relievers and ABSOLUTELY nothing else.

And what do you see in the minors?

No one over age 20.

My wife and I spontaneously went to see "Trouble With The Curve" this evening, to a theatre where beer and wine are served. The first time I've watched a move in a theatre since "Radio," with Cuba Gooding.

I'll probably ramble on about it more later in Idle Chatter, but I am glad we went.

The dweeb antagonist in "Trouble With The Curve" reminded me much of the current Indians front office.

He stayed in the office and watched stats on the computer, and never left to go sniff the leather and wood and grass and see the real games.

I'm still really hung up on that story in the Northeastern Ohio press several days ago that Chris Antonetti made a "rare road trip" to go watch our team play.

Antonetti, the same guy that upon the day he was promoted to GM after over a decade in the Cleveland Indians organization, confessed he never played a game of baseball after the age of 15.

Antonetti, the same guy Mark Shapiro "groomed" to be his GM as he personally ascended and treaded water to The Presidency of The Cleveland Indians. Mark Shapiro who admits he never played baseball after high school, though no public record of his high school playing can be affirmed on the internet by me....and I'm pretty good at internet sleuthing.

I love computer stats. I'm pretty sure we all here do.

But I more importantly depend upon looking a man eye to eye as my personal measurement, or keyboard to keyboard as it may sometimes be, but to be sure to watch a baseball player play a real damned game or two before I go get him for my team.

Just remember that it is far easier for Dolan to throw the dice and hope for better than Mark Shapiro and Chris Antonetti than it is for us to go get a different owner to pony up more money.

Truly, I think you could give Shapiro and Antonetti "Yankee money", and they would only deliver worthless Confederate Bonds.

Mark would say, "I like Bonds." "I liked it when he hit the ball in the water."

And Antonetti would chime in, "Me too! Me too!"

You can't say the Indians haven't had an impact on the race. The only three road series they've won the entire second half of the season have been in Detroit (twice) and this one in Chicago.

(Here's a weird fact about this very weird season: the last time the Indians won a road series against a team that currently has a losing record was May 14-15, at Minnesota. Since that time, they've won this just ended series, taken series against playoff teams in St. Louis and Baltimore, and 3 separate series in Detroit--all while getting shredded on the road by the Royals, Twins, Mariners, and even the Astros.)

That is a weird fact, among many in this weird season.

Acta has been fired, Santos is the interim manager.

Press conference at 4:15.

92.5 in Cleveland says the Indians are talking to Terry Francona.

Say what you will about this front office but they run one hell of a press conference.

Interesting that they pick an afternoon when the Browns play the same night.

Will make for a crowded cover page in the sports section of the PD.
