Again, not to get into a spitting match, but that post was not at all a defense of Chris Perez, if I correctly interpret that was your point.

I lived in the Bay Area and likely attended 40 to 60 plus games in Oakland in those years, before I could easily watch The Tribe via the internet. I watched more A's baseball on TV, and on occasion checked in on Barry Bonds and "splash downs" in the same years.

I was hooked on A's Baseball as another team to follow when I learned Ray Fosse did the broadcasts.


I knew where Isringhausen, Koch and Foulke came from....and the circumstances. I only had to double check the salary amounts for specifics.


If I had any point in that post, and I did, it was that I think our current Cleveland Indians Franchise will not be better at any time in the future with Mark Shapiro as President.

My belief and opinion is that no one could possibly do any worse, and that Mark Shapiro is a bleak path to follow based upon his track record of 2 for 11 winning seasons, or something similar, and likely to grow worse on that stat.

Anyone would be better, and certainly not worse than where we are now as an organization with Mark Shapiro in late August 2012.

I've offered up once or twice before recently for someone to refute me in that belief about the futility of Mark Shapiro in the future, hoping someone had an angle for drafts or trades or player development, or convincing the owner to dig a little deeper ("to make up for my prior bad contracts") I had not previously considered.

Thus far, no one here has offered up any attempt at optimism for Cleveland Indians future with Mark Shapiro as General Manager, or President.

I find this sort of amazing: Assuming, as now seems likely, that

1) the Orioles, Nationals, Pirates, and Athletics all finish the season with winning records; and that

2) the Royals and Indians both finish with losing records,

the list of major league teams that have not had a winning season in the last five years will have just those two teams on it: the Indians and the Royals.

Talking about won lost records......

What is Manny up to these days? No, no, not this Manny; THAT Manny. Can he still hit a baseball?

Can we trade for Omar? He's still playing as far as I know.

Perhaps what is really in order is a trade with Toronto. That is, Toronto goes to the Central and the Tribe goes to the East. That's an additional ten home games per year that will draw good crowds. Errr, I mean large crowds.

Girardi defends postgame actions toward unruly fan

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he had no regrets about his actions outside the visiting clubhouse at U.S. Cellular Field on Wednesday, when he approached a rowdy heckler and demanded the fan be removed from the stadium.

Rusty will get a kick that our youngest daughter and her boyfriend took my wife and I to the beach this evening for grouper and a couple of some drinks called "Buckets of Fun," just for me.

Our waitress ironically was the 21 year old wife of a 21 year old kid I met on a night fishing trip three weeks ago. He was a superb conversationalist, built like me and with hair like me at that age, and he brought a case of beer on board for his fishing trip as I usually did in those days in my early 20's.

We were fast friends that night, as he saw me alone looking to fish while my wife was away at Auburn, as he was also solo as his wife was working her waitress big money job, and he struck up the conversation. His best friend of childhood was a mate on the boat, and the mate had a ridiculously good looking girl friend who hung out with us and was a good time.

That night I was 55, and felt 21.

Tonight I am 56, and feel 21 1/2.

If I were a thoroughbred horse, I would soon be 58.

Although I have not seen him recently and I am sure the Tribe has aged him a little. It sure has me.

Travis Hafner - DH - Indians

Indians GM Chris Antonetti expects Travis Hafner (lower back) to return this season.
Hafner is dealing with a bulging disk in his lower back and remains without a timetable, but the injury won't require surgery. His next step will involve being cleared for baseball activities, with a possible return to the Indians in September.

Oh goody, can't wait for that. What a disasterous contract, finally over with!

As far as I can tell, most of the worst moves for the Indians these past few years were when the DID spend money. Pronk, Grady, Peralta. Hell, they even took on a big contract with Ubaldo and OOPS again!

Snakebit is snakebit. Big contract or small.
