It sure is - I didn't realize he had that funky delivery in addition to all his other nasty stuff.
When a breaking ball like he has buckles a left handed hitter, that is nasty all right.
How do you prepare for that drastic dropping breaking pitch that went as low as 84 mph and a fastball that topped out at 98?

That is that 12-6 pull the shade slow curve I told you guys about. The fact he has that and can throw it for strikes with an upper 90’s fastball just isn’t fair.

How can we express how amazing it is that Cookie nails down a save last night.....
What a season.
Civale, Plesac, Plutko. Mercado. Even Luplow!
Santana comes back and is a terror. The injuries to Kluber, Clevinger. And Carrasco...wow.

The one batter Carrasco walked, 2 of the 4 balls were clearly strikes. I wish I was there so the ump could have heard what I had to say. But bounced right back no problems, looked really good.

Yes!
HB as an umpire I am reluctant to pile on umpires.
But those 2....the umpire really blew. It is actually rare to see an ump miss a call that badly, let alone 2. Hey, I've blown strike calls and known it but it is actually extra rare to see another in the same at bat. If I feel I missed one I am somewhat "hunting strikes" on close pitches to make it up.
Mind you only grey area ones.
It was obvious, but Cookie (he was annoyed) did move past it and do the job. So in retrospect only that's an even better scenario since Cookie is shy of game experience this season. Good experience to have him move past it.

Tied back up for Wild Card!
I didn’t get to watch the game, just went and watched highlights at MLB.com. Opened up a can tonight.

He has a new bat. One of those ax handle ones that people with hand injuries have been going to.
Same bat that Mookie Betts used when he won the MVP.
By the way, his grand slam was from left side. His 3 run shot from right side. Just to add to the fun.

Lol, before the game Andre Knott said Jose was not entirely happy to have to use the ax handle bat.
Guess he likes it now.
I can't entirely believe I saw that - and what a privilege to have seen it. Does anyone fully realize the odds against what happened there???? Pretty much that...can't....happen. But it did.
Just another chapter to an entirely fun season.

I know it was for me as well, but the announcers and everyone - it was kind of surreal that he hit that grand slam.
Just how can you wrap your head around that at the time it happened?
Jose Ramirez - no one is more driven than that guy.

let's see who was it [Baerga?] who hit two grand slams from in the same inning, one as a righty one as a lefty? Or was that two grand slams in the same game but not the same inning?

TFIR;
And I had to laugh at the reaction of Puig jogging from 2nd to 3rd after Jose hit the 3 run homer. He threw his hands up like, are you kidding me. It isn’t that easy!
