J. Hannahan homered to deep right center with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game at 2-2.

OK I see it was a 10th inning loss.

Masterson remains a consistent good starter, with no luck.

Phelps has so many K and CS this year at Columbus that I have to assume he has been trying too hard to prove he's ready. It will probably take him awhile to relax and just do what he knows how to do at this level.

For those who are looking for options at catcher, Chun Chen is having a good debut season in Akron, but he wont' be ready for Cleveland for 12 months or longer.

We've known from Day 1 that the Tigers have more starting pitching and a deeper lineup than we do. We'll be very hard pressed to win the division. what I'd like to see is the ship righting and the team going about 500 the rest of the way, which is possible if Santana and Choo remember how to hit.

We could this year with 2 established young starters in Masterson and Carrasco.

With Brantley established as a leadoff hitter.

We;re on the right course.

Santana could use some time at Columbus.

Perez has been on thin ice on several of his saves this season. Today he was lucky the pitch he grooved on the game winner didn't turn into an HR. A bit of bad luck on the throw from Brantley that took a big hop in front of Marson.

Tough to start getting the fans hope, then have the club dive right on the verge of losing first place in the span of 3 weeks.

Despite the kool-aid, the talent to be a division champ just isn't there for the Tribe. There is some good talent developing, but the drop off to the rest of the roster is steep.

It has been fun, but this recent stretch is much closer to my expectations for the club.

You take out Hafner completely while Choo and Santana are playing like shadow puppets of themselves, and runs are going to be damn hard to get. There are only 3 batters with BAs over .256.

You still can't steal first base.

When the kids on the farm are ready, bring them on and wait 'til next year.

After the next 7 games vs the EE and Tigers, the Tribe could well be closer to third place than first.

No offense Husker.

I think you are WAY wrong this time.

We have a nucleous of guys that can play ball.

I was at yesterday's game. It was a HOT day, but really not bad in the shade, where there was a nice, cool breeze. Took the Shaker rapid, which has great A/C.

The rookie looked like he was trying to hard to impress. Swung at the first pitch he saw, and grounded out, stranding Choo at first. He then struck out, grounded out again, and flew out. But he made a spectacular defensive play in the seventh inning. He dove to catch a liner up the middle and prevented a run from scoring, b/c the Twins had nobody out and a runner on 2nd. Fans gave him a standing O.

Acta keeps batting Santana cleanup, followed by Choooooooo yesterday. Carlos had only one hit, a two-out double, but then Choo grounded weakly back to the pitcher.

But the bottom of the 9th was exciting. 2 outs, nobody on. I had just remarked to the guy next to me. "Where's Albert Belle when we need him?" when who but Jack freaking Hannahan hit one out! When Marson followed with a single, and Brantley up next, I was thinking maybe the magic was back. But he popped out behind the plate on a ball we all hoped would go on the other side of the screen.

So we had free baseball, and C. Perez got the first 2 hitters out. But you know what happened next :(

The ride home was eventful, as the rapid was stuck at E 79th street for 20 minutes or so, b/c one of the doors wouldn't close. Luckily, the A/C was working fine, and I had interesting people to talk to. Once the doors were all closed, we proceeded smoothly the rest of the way.

All in all, not a bad day at the old ballpark!
