That last homer by Moncado wasn't Bieber's fault. He threw a fastball neck high and some how Moncado was able to get on top of it. Just tip your cap on that one.

I have no idea if Mercado can hit in the majors but I know he can't be any worse than some of our guys. Try it. Bring Haase up and try that. Try Bradley. Do something instead of the same damn thing every day hoping for different results.

Well, if Mercado hits he won't be going back down. Someone will hopefully be Wally Pip.

Kipnis gone. And replace with? No kid infielders in Columbus. Freeman is no worse than Kipnis thought; and Moroff or Flaherty can be the utility man. I strongly doubt that they'd be willing to eat Jason's fat undisgestible contract. But it's a great idea.

Mercado was leading the International League with 14 steals.

Some times a guy like that, being aggressive on the base paths, can spark a team.

We can hope.

By the way, kind of getting lost in this is yet another injury to Naquin. Who is quickly turning into the next Lonnie Chisenhall.

We won't have to wait long to see if Mercado can help. He's starting in LF today, batting 6th.

I assume everyone including Francona is aware of it, but it bears repeating that Kipnis's average for the last 3 seasons have been:

2017 232 with OPS of 705
2018: 230 with OPS of 704
2019: 198 with OPS of 549

This is no reason at all to assume he'll outperform his recently established norm.
And he seems to be reaching new depths in his lack of power. Even the previous two season his HR totals were 12 in a season cut 1/3 short by injury and 18 for a full season. This year he's trailing, among others, Max Moroff and Brad Miller with a nice round total of 0

I know he is young but like Tito I like Clement.
