The superstar starting for the Royals came in with an ERA of 9 and 13 hits allowed in 10 innings and already 3 homeruns. His last 3 seasons have each ended with an ERA over 6! Believe it or not a major league team signed this guy to a contract.
So today the AL Central champions have managed 1 single against him in 4 2/3 innings.
Game time temp 55, is that why Jose is now hitting .140?

Rodriguez doing OK. 0 runs in the first or second. 1 on a couple hits in the 3rd. Solo homer in the 4th. With the offense behind him, he's a big hole.

Scoring opportunity in the 5th: 2 out walk to Plawecki. Miller doubles. Super utility guy Max Moroff strikes out swinging. This worthless IF has now fanned 12 times in 25 at bats. Has drawn NO walks. His entire offense consists of a single and a double amounting to an OPS of 200. He and Stamets and two more comparably effective offensive performances would total and OPS of less than One Francisco Lindor.

4 off Hillman in the 5th, but again they are all unearned. Two errors by Top Prospect Nolan Jones, who probably will wind up as an outfielder, key the rally. Only two hits in the inning. Hillman left after 6 innings, he's now pitched 11 with an ERA of nothing.
Looks like Akron is on the way to their second win, up 7-0 behind Plesac. 6 2/3 4 hits no walks 4 k.
Johnson's 0=3 with a walk drops below 200. But his OPS of 805 is the only one on this team over 700
Mercado hit by a pitch and leaves the game.
Peoples with 5 shutout innings. But 4 have scored off the bullpen including 2 unearned on a botched play by AAA 2nd baseman Jason Kipnis. At bat the Clippers 2nd baseman is 0-4 dropping his average to 143 and has left 7 runners on base. Miller has begun to hit for Cleveland, is now at 258 with an OPS soaring over 700. What do we need Jason for?
if you're looking for upgrades to Moroff and Stamets, Mike Freeman is hitting 150 and Yu Chang 194.

New Look Indians come out of the chute with 3 runs in the 1st.
Team HR leader L. Martin with his 3rd
CarGo in LF singles. Santana team leader in everything else doubles. Naquin hitting 5th brings them both in. Hanley has the day off. Bauer DH.
I'll have to look it up but I don't think they have scored as many as 3 in a first inning before this year.

So Leonys leads the game off with a homer! Ok, this guy is a keeper.
CarGo gets on and Santana keeps his fire burning doubling him to 3B - our buddy Naquin stays hot by getting them both home.
3 runs in an inning? Kluber must be rubbing his eyes making sure it isn't a mirage.

Hey civ - CarGo in left field kinda shows that Naquin is impressing Tito!

of course the bottom of the lineup is the same bunch of garbage although Miller hitting 242 is of some value. Eric the Unready racks up his 22nd strike out in 39 plate appearances.

Chalk it up to the Little Dutch Boy's finger syndrome again.
We score some runs and new leaks in the dyke. Kluber gives up 4 runs. He is not himself this season.

Kluber left behind 6-3 having walked an amazing 5 in 2 2/3. Wittgren stops the bleeding.
Tribe rallies for 2. Miller drives in one. Stamets then avoids hitting into a triple play; his predicatable DP at least brought the Tribe's 5th run in.

Kluber is either injured or mechanics just way out of whack.
Shoulda traded him while his value was up!!

Bauers with a 2 run single to tie it up 8-8. We gave him the kiss of life.
