Good news is he can't ground into DP.
But he can strike out on 3 pitches...

Martin is up. I would think they will be careful with him with 1st base open and struggling Jose on deck.

2-0, yup, being careful with him.
Martin helps him out, swinging at a low one.
Yup, and he throws 2 more out of zone.
Bases loaded for Jose

Andre Knott saying Jose always starts slow. Was 0-15 and 4 for 34 to start last year.
Says his exit velocity is exactly the same as last year but not finding holes. Looks off balance at plate though. I would totally agree. Rick Manning does too.
Strikes out....
onto btm 8
4-0

Wow, Jose Ramirez strikes out vs that scrub. Hurts.

I saw a telecast earlier where they talked about the shift. I honestly believe it's in his head.
He isn't sure how to go about breaking it. Remember an earlier game when he tried to bunt a couple times against it?
And found out one thing - he is a terrible bunter.

He should change his name to Joe Ramir.

Cimber is in.
Final line for Bieber ... 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K
Cabrera was 0-3 with a K.
Cimber gets an easy 1-2-3 ... onto the 9th

I'll call this "The little Dutch Boy" theory.
So last year we have a good lineup and our bullpen is a total disaster, full of holes the little Dutch boy couldn't fill.
This year we have scrubs again in the bullpen but they pitch well! Instead NOW the lineup is full of holes.

Antonetti and Shapiro always believed that bullpen was always inconsistent and you never knew what you were going to get. So many guys have a great year and get used a lot then have a dead arm the following year.
And I really think Tito pitched Miller and Allen into the ground in '16, as far as problems last year or two.
Santana walks. He's now on base 8 straight times.
Hanley up, 1 away. (Bauers flied out)

Pitching is always ahead of hitting this time of year, but for some reason it seems like the hitters are setting all kinds of negative records.
Hey, weren't we interested in the O's Chris Davis? 0-53

Hanley grounds into a double play to end the top half.
He started off well but has went into a spin himself.
4-0 good guys, btm of 9th coming up.
I think they said Hand is coming in to get work despite no save situation.

Makes sense. Besides, being this shorthanded every win counts extra.

Yeah, Hand hasn't worked this series yet.
Another thing about our brass and relievers, I think they must really like having a submariner on the staff. For a different look.
They brought Joe Smith in twice. Then Cimber. Now we have a guy in a system named Robert Bloom, or is it Broom? Any way, he is a submariner too.
Hand strikes out the first guy!
