those two starts both went to extra innings: the last time he left tied 1-1 and we won in 10.
the previous time he left up 2-1, Royals tied in the 9th, we scored 2 in the 11th and we're still waiting to finish it.

Shaw comes in to start the 8th holding the same 1-0 lead. Tribe sure does back House generously, 4 runs total in these last 3 starts.

Mike Aviles made it interesting, his two out error followed by a steal put a RISP, but Shaw did his job perfectly, retiring all he faced, two on strikes

Bourn does what he's supposed to leading off the 8th: drops a bunt single.

Ramirez does not do his job, fails to get down a bunt and strikes out.

Brantley works the count to 3-1

And draws a walk for our hottest hitter to bat with 2 on facing Caleb Thielbar, a lefty.

Santana is hitting 274 as a RH, has a 395 OPS and a 490 SLG from the right side. Pitching change?

No he stays in, and Santana singles to score Bourn and give House/Allen more of a cushion.

Kipnis with a remarkable 41 RBI in 514 total plate appearances [but Tito likes him hitting 5th because he just might get hot again] flies out, deep, and Brantley moves to third.

3.5 back in the Wild Card, but there are a lot of teams ahead or tied with us.
And 3.5 behind the division-leading Royals, assuming a win in the suspended game.

Still not too confident of them passing all those teams, but great to see another late season run. Meaningful games in September is a nice occurrence these last 2 years.

Best of all the young rotation gives great hope for next season and beyond! Nice to have a lefty mixed in as well.

Indians are in decent shape if they can grab one or two games in Detroit....
