Suspending games takes away the incentive for teams that are trailing to stall, hoping for a rainout and a fresh start.

So when the Royals come to town, there is going to be a half inning with the Royals as the home team to finish that game, then start a whole new game.

Yep. But I prefer that to having to start the inning over with the game tied, or playing another whole game. Seems like the Indians have the advantage. I think they could even use Cody Allen again, since nobody actually threw a pitch for us after him.

The box score seems to say that Crockett had been announced as the new pitcher.

Another option is to use the starter in the full game to end the first one.

Can they use any pitcher in a suspension makeup? Or are ones already used in a game not allowed? Reason I ask is if they use Cody again theoretically he could have a blown save and a save in the same game.

Tribe's Bradley named Arizona League MVP

Indians 2014 third-round pick led circuit in most major categories

Bobby Bradley (.652) was the only Arizona League player with a slugging percentage above .600.

The Indians admittedly rolled the dice when they selected Bobby Bradley in the third round back in June. Not because the 18-year-old first baseman was a stretch for the 97th overall pick, but rather because he had publicly stated that he would head to LSU if he wasn't taken in the first two rounds.

To entice him to make the jump to the pros, the Tribe offered the promising left-handed slugger an above-slot $912,500 signing bonus. The two sides agreed to a deal in mid-June, prompting Bradley to say, "I don't think I'm going to see campus." A little more than two months later, both the Indians and Bradley are already reaping rewards.

Bradley was named the Rookie-level Arizona League's Most Valuable Player and is the circuit's choice at first base on the All-Star Team, as announced at the end of the AZL regular season.

The Indians' No. 20 prospect was an easy pick for the league's top honor after putting himself atop the leaderboard in most of the major offensive categories. He ranked first in all three slash-line stats (.361/.426/.652) as well as homers (eight), RBIs (50) and total bases (101). He also added three triples, 13 doubles and three stolen bases in 39 games during his debut season.

Bradley's inclusion at first base pushed Fran Whitten, another slugger who almost didn't go pro this year, to the DH spot on the All-Star squad. As told here, the 23-year-old first baseman was set for a career as a game warden before an impressive season at Florida's Saint Leo University propelled him to become a 37th-round pick of the Angels in June. Whitten owned a .343/.425/.519 line with two homers and 19 RBIs in 28 games with the Halos' Arizona League affiliate before moving up to Rookie-level Orem.

D-backs right-hander Yefrey Ramirez was named the league's top right-handed starter after going 4-2 with a 1.93 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, 48 strikeouts and only four walks in seven appearances (37 1/3 innings).

Thomas Pannone, also of the Indians, represented the southpaws on the All-Star squad, thanks to his 62 strikeouts which ranked third among all AZL hurlers. He also posted a 3.20 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 11 outings (45 innings).

Because the game was tied in the last completed inning AND had gone more than 5 the game becomes suspended and to be completed at a later date. Since the Royals still had a series with the Indians there was no pressure on the umpires to get the game done on Sunday. Also any players used and having left the game can not be used but for any players added to the roster can be used. So Tito has an additional 15 players at his disposal for hopefully only a 1/2 inning. The only problem in using the starter from the regular scheduled game would be if it went longer than a 1/2 inning and how much time would there be between completion of the of the suspended game and the regularly scheduled game.

That's what I'm wondering. If the game only does go 1/2 inning and the next game can start right away then it would be fine.

Otherwise if the pitcher blows the lead and comes ends up having to pitch more than one inning to finish the game it would definetly screw things up.

Do you have a reliable reliever finish up that game, and not be available for the follow on? Or go with a starter and have someone prepared to come in 3rd or 4th inning if necessary.

Dependable Ryan Raburn and his 191 average returns to the roster and the starting lineup tonight. BTW, his avg at Columbus was 059. But a solid 455 for the Rubber Ducks. So, if we face AA pitchers he should be right in the middle of the order. Unfortunatley Tiger starter Lobstein is a AAA lefty

Could care less about Rayburn right now.....I'm more worried about Carrasco melting down in the 2nd inning.

Went 1-2-3 in the first.

We score 2 in the bottom of the 1st.

Then Carrasco come out, loads up the bases with no outs, walks a run in......



got the next two to strike out.....ground out to 3rd ends it.

Carrasco has been in nothing but trouble all night.....88 pitches and almost every inning pitched out of huge jams.

One out to go in the top of the 5th with runners at the corners......and gets his 10th strike out of the night.

9 LOB for the tigers....wow....if he comes out the next inning I'd be surprised...but wow...just wow.

Carrasco has been very good when it counts so far tonight!

Lobstien is doing almost as good on the other side of the ball......just got his 10th strikeout to end the inning. Though he hasn't had to pitch out of jams the way Carrasco has.....so I guess he's doing better.
