Major League Baseball is looking for ways to speed the Game up and you have guys like Francona making 27 pitching changes per game. Somethings got to give.

So what would you have them do, SEAGULL?
Limit the number of pitchers that are allowed to be used in a game?
Mandate that a pitcher must face a minimum number of hitters?
Make a rule that whoever starts an inning has to finish it?
I don't think any of those ideas will fly.
It can be maddening to watch the parade of pitchers, but it seems to be working for Tito.

The first thing I would do is limit the number of warm-up pitches. No reason to have a pitcher that has been throwing in the bullpen to throw 8 warm-up pitches. 2 or 3 would be OK.
Second, I would eliminate the first visit. Most of the time, it's just a stalling tactic. Come to the mound, you must remove the pitcher.

I agree with fewer warmup pitches from the mound. Not sure about the 2 visits.
But I think I've said before that the most annoying time killer is the batters stepping out of the box on every pitch. Make them stay in the box. And enforce the time limit for pitchers with nobody on base.

So according to the ESPN....
because the game could not be finished in the bottom of the 10th due to a rain delay......it is going to be suspended and there will be a "Half Inning" for them to finish it when the Royals come to Cleveland....
what the shit is that?

MLB RULE:
4.12
SUSPENDED GAMES.
(a) A game shall become a suspended game that must be completed at a future date if the game is terminated for any of the following reasons:
(1) A curfew imposed by law;
(2) A time limit permissible under league rules;
(3) Light failure or malfunction of a mechanical field device under control of the home club. (Mechanical field device shall include automatic tarpaulin or water removal equipment);
(4) Darkness, when a law prevents the lights from being turned on;
(5) Weather, if a regulation game is called while an inning is in progress and before the inning is completed, and the visiting team has scored one or more runs to take the lead, and the home team has not retaken the lead; or
(6) It is a regulation game that is called with the score tied. National Association Leagues may also adopt the following rules for suspended games. (If adopted by a National Association League, Rule 4.10(e) would not apply to their games.):
(7) The game has not become a regulation game (41/2 innings with the home team ahead, or 5 innings with the visiting club ahead or tied).
(8) If a game is suspended before it becomes a regulation game, and is continued prior to another regularly scheduled game, the regularly scheduled game with be limited to seven innings.
(9) If a game is suspended after it is a regulation game, and is continued prior to another regularly scheduled game, the regularly scheduled game will be a nine inning game.

Beats the old rule that the game reverted to the end of the previous inning.

That's a win for the Tribe. Focus on the loss column from now on out. We are playing great do to excellent starting pitching which is the key to any winning team and our bull pen is outstanding. Last 30 games or so are going to be a blast. Gotta love what Francona is doing with this roster and as sea pointed out Calloway get a lot of props too!!!!!

The first thing I would do is limit the number of warm-up pitches.
That's got to be a non-starter.
My guess is that this has everything to do with the networks wanting a larger proportion of televised time to be selling ads and a smaller proportion to be baseball. Eight warmup pitches in two minutes means two minutes of ad time to sell. No warmup pitches means no ad time to sell.
The kinds of "speed up the game" that will please the crapmongers include stronger enforcement of the 20-second rule (or whatever the length is), less of the batter stepping out of the box, and making reviews of plays a mandatory known length of time so that ads can be sold while the big brains in NY view the video.

The rule for ending of a game procedure hasn't changed. If by reverting back to last full completed inning, home team wins because of the visiting team taking the lead in the partially completed inning game over Home team wins. in this case because it was a tie by reverting back the game becomes a suspended game to be completed at a later date.

I thought that games that ended in ties used to cancelled and started over again from scratch. Maybe years back when there were only 7 other teams to play?
