Today's game was pretty quick.....shutouts kind of work that way....we even had some hitting scattered around.

Phil Hughes has 13 wins vs Corey Kluber's 14. I didn't realize Hughes finally was pitching like he had been projected to back when he was a typical overhyped Yankee minor leaguer.

Hughes' stats are good but not great. ERA 3.76. WHIP 1.21. Great K/BB ratio of 140/15. Homers allowed 11 in 158 innings. 2 years ago he surrendered 35.

Last three starts have been better: 1 run each time in 6 to 7 1/3 innings.

Kluber starting out a bit ragged; a leadoff single; a one out walk.

And he fans the next two to end the inning. 20 pitches in that 1st inning.

Kluber gives up homer to Vargas - but Tribe comes right back with solo homer from.....WALTERS!

Come on, this may end up another total steal for Tribe brass involving a little known player.

Granted he needs to work on consistency, but he has really had some key hits. And we got him for a half season of a disappointing
Asdrubal.

Someone named Vargas went deep for the Twins in the 4th.
Someone named Walters went deep [again] for the Tribe in the 5th.

End of 5, 1-1.

Each team's line is 1-3-0.
67 pitches for Kluber 6 strikeouts
69 pitches for Hughes. 7 strikeouts

Cabrera has been OK for the Nats. hitting 267, surprisingly walking more than he ever has, but that could have something to do with sometimes batting just ahead of the pitcher. OPS is 774. 4 doubles, 1 triple, 1 homer. I don't miss him.

2 run double by Pflouffe. That's the 3rd double Twins hit in 2 innings, previous inning Kluber rescued by a caught stealing

Chisenhall flies out. Walters strikes out. Big rally comes up short.
