No, he played a really good 2nd half. If the head coach had any brains this kid would be playing 25+ minutes a night until the end of the season.

This team is being done in by a coach killer as a star.

Being done in by a coach that is just !@#$% terrible.

Kyrie just like LeBron did needs someone to kick them in their rear end.

You can not acquire a player with Kyrie's natural ability in Cleveland.

Anybody that knows basketball knows that Mike Brown is just terrible.

Basketball is an offensive game. Take that away and the players do not want to play.

I really expect the Cavs to make a big move before the trade deadline. Might be trade or firing the coach. Someone ordered Brown to play Bennett last night. Brown is on a short leash.

I really think Mike Brown is a nice guy but he is just not basketball smart enough to ever get the best out of his team.

The Lakers realized that and is why they dumped after only a few games into last season. He is just dumb !!!!!!!

Wow rusty I'm impressed you seem to get that the NBA is about scoring points. Why in the world can't you seem to get that the NFL is about the QB NOT the OL????

Anyway this Cavs team is all done. Trade Deng, AV and Miles now if you can and start shopping Irving over the summer. Play Bennet and Karsev big minutes from now on and line up in the lottery AGAIN!!!

Oh and FIRE Brown AND Grant!

I do think there are some really good pieces here.

If you look around the NBA you can see that there are NEW coaches that are getting more out of their talent this year, with less talent, than Mike Brown. By quite a bit too.

Sad, but Brown has to be replaced before management can even think of trading pieces. Hard to know what you really have under these circumstances, except for a few (Varejao etc) obvious guys.

The Cavs can get better by getting rid of Dion Waiters as soon as possible. This guy is a PITA. Pain In The Ass !

You never get better in the NBA by trading the most talented player on your team. Kyrie is a superstar with a poor work ethic.

Dion might be an above average player some day but he will always be a PITA. Always !

The Cavs are trying to make it work but it is not going to happen.

You trade Dion, trade the Memphis pick, possibly trade TT if there is a team interested. Get rid of Jack and Clark.

Wow, this from the guy that thought Brady Quinn was going to be a good NFL QB.

Cleveland Cavaliers GM Chris Grant on poor showing by his team: 'The fans deserve better'

Mary Schmitt Boyer, The Plain Dealer

January 29, 2014 at 3:00 PM, updated January 29, 2014 at 3:38 PM

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Cavaliers General Manager Chris Grant took ownership of his team's poor performance this season during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon at Cleveland Clinic Courts.

"We're all accountable for it, including myself," he said. "It's frustrating. It's disappointing. The fans deserve better."

The Cavs are coming off two particularly horrible performances, wasting a 20-point first-half lead in a 99-90 loss to Phoenix on Sunday at The Q, followed by a totally inept 100-89 home loss to New Orleans on Tuesday night. Fans who braved frigid temperatures on both days left hot, voicing their displeasure with boos.

The Cavs, who opened the season promising to make the playoffs, are 16-29, 11-12 at home, where they were 1-4 in the just-completed five-game homestand. The only victory came over the Milwaukee Bucks, the worst team in the league.

"The lack of effort is just not acceptable," Grant said. "It's not who we are or who we want to be."

Grant said he believed in coach Mike Brown and his offensive and defensive systems. He said the players need to be more consistent in their execution of both. Whereas Brown talked about making unspecified changes after Tuesday's loss, Grant wasn't sure if there would be changes in the team's roster. The NBA trading deadline is Feb. 20.

Grant was asked about Cavs owner Dan Gilbert, a fairly frequent Twitter user who has been mostly silent during the recent homestand.

"Dan wants to win. He's passionate. People know that. I've said this before: There's a great combination of Dan Gilbert and the fans of Northeast Ohio. It's just a special combination.

"He understands. He wants to win. He's supportive. He understands. He's very involved -- as far as asking questions and debating and talking -- but in the right way, what we all would expect him to. He's been great, but at the same time, yeah, he wants us to win, as do we.''

Under-the-radar NBA leaders
Which high-performing players aren't getting enough credit this season?

Tristan Thompson | PF | Cleveland Cavaliers
Notable stat: Fifth in offensive rebounds

When we think of the game's top offensive rebounders, names like Dwight Howard, Kevin Love and Joakim Noah come to mind. These are relentless rim guys who have size, strength and, in Love's case, an amazing feel for where the ball is going.

This season, however, Thompson has more total offensive rebounds than all of them. He does an impressive job in two areas: he either runs right to the front of the rim and just waits for the miss or he quickly moves in between the man guarding him and the rim when he anticipates the shot being taken. He then lowers his hips and maneuvers into a position that makes it hard for his defender to move him away from the rim. It sounds simple but it requires effort and a willingness to get hit from all sides.

On defense, most bigs in this position try to push their man under the rim, where the only rebound to get is the one that falls through the net (thus no rebound at all), but Thompson's lower-body strength and those lowered hips make him very hard to push. From that point he can rely on his ability to tip or catch the missed shot with his long arms totally outstretched, showing excellent hand-eye coordination. Just 22 years old, there is still a ton of growth left in his game.

Cavs are done. This collection of players doesn't work. In my useless opinion Irving is the one player with serious value around the league, he will not sign long term in Cleveland and this team needs a complete make over. Therefore he is the key player I would trade to jump start a new team.

In the mean time the Cavs better start playing the kids and position themselves for a good a draft pick as they can get. No way does Deng resign with this club, so trade him NOW!
