I gather that is a list a of Rule 5 prospects? Hankins has lots of talent but tiny bit of experience. I would doubt anyone would reach for him this winter.
Peyton Battenfield who pitched OK for Columbus and has been seen in our top 30 prospects, but not currently, could be a possibility for back of a rotation; low ceiling but perhaps some benefit, as ready as he'll be for the majors.

Did the G's end up with 40 guys on the roster at the deadline?
If so, they can't draft anybody in the rule 5 draft.
So, articles about hot rule 5 prospects doesn't mean much to the Gs
They might be hoping a couple of their players get taken and grab the cash.

It’s time to shift our attention to the frozen wasteland of the offseason. With luck, the baseball gods will provide us with an amply warm stove to survive this bleak period without baseball. Already, we’ve seen a number of interesting, tinkering-on-the-margins trades. Teams are also preparing for the Rule 5 draft, set to take place on December 7.

Today, we’ll check in on some players who were not protected per MLB.com. By nature, none of these are consensus Top 100 prospects. In some cases, they had a better prospect pedigree in the past. In others, scouting reports don’t agree with the statistical output. Still others are clearly talented but have struggled to stay on the field.

We’ll cover half today and the other half next week.

Which part of this was hard to comprehend ?

Sea, the home may need to put more sugar in your oatmeal !

interest in the draft from Cleveland's perspective is if any of our semi-prospects are picked. Remember that last year if there had been a draft, we could have lose Oscar Gonzalez. In previous season we lost Anthony Santander. So there's some reason to be interested from parochial Guardians' perspective

For those who follow the minors, who would you rate our No. 1 prospect? Espino has held that spot for the past year and he was outstanding for Akron last spring. But then he was shut down for 3/4 of the season. Wonderful ability but miniscule experience. Gavin Williams and Tanner Bibee also looked great last summer in both Lake County and Akron and have had no physical setbacks. They appear more likely to reach the majors in 2023 than Espino

He's not No. 1 but Cody Morris was impressive in his big league debut and I'd be happy to give him inside track for the 5th spot in the rotation and trade Plesac

If we are going by contributing in 2023. Currently I would say Bo Naylor until there is a catcher acquisition.

Next it would be a pitcher. Should be 2 starting spots available. In the past it would be harder to figure out but hopefully they do the same as this year and give the young players a chance.

give the young players a chance

The bullpen is full of 2021 rookies; the lineup of 2022 rookies; rookie starters auditioned in 2022, I think we can feature Morris in the 2023 rotation and if they move along as fast as they did in 2022 Bibee and Williams could be ready to join in over the summer.

"Each team's Rookie of the Year Candidate" from MLB.COM He
Guardians: Bo Naylor, C (No. 5/MLB No. 75)
After struggling horribly in Double-A in 2021, Naylor bounced back to hit .263/.392/.496 with 21 homers and 20 steals in 118 games in the upper levels of the Minors and make his big league debut alongside big brother Josh in October. Part of the only Canadian sibling tandem to both be first-round picks, he's also a solid defender behind the plate.

Last year at this time NO ONE would have suggested Steven Kwan as Cleveland's ROY Candidate and certainly not that he would finish No. 3 in the voting. Steven was rated NO. 27 by Baseball America and about the same everywhere else.

A reasonable comparison for next year could be Will Brennan who is currently rated No. 19 even after his fine September and October by MLB.com; Rankings will be readjusted before the season starts. BA is doing the Central Division teams in early December.
Joey Cantillo who was just added to the 40 man roster is No. 22
Hunter Gaddis who was really awful in his two major league starts is No. 27.

Guardians

Few clubs can match the Guardians in terms of developing pitching, and they have a slew of arms -- headlined by Daniel Espino (CLE 1), Gavin Williams (CLE 3), Tanner Bibee (CLE 6) and Logan Allen (CLE 8) -- on the cusp of arriving in the Majors. They also have a surplus of young outfielders in George Valera (CLE 2), Chase DeLauter (CLE 7) and Will Brennan (CLE 19) and infielders in Brayan Rocchio (CLE 4), Gabriel Arias (CLE 9), Angel Martinez (CLE 10), while also being stocked at those positions in Cleveland. While Cleveland's modus operandi is to acquire youngsters as opposed to dealing for them, they're positioned to make moves if they want.
