PITTSBURG — Luis Ortiz and Ben Lively set the tone, now all Logan Allen has to do is play the final note Sunday at PNC Park.
Ortiz and Lively opened this three-game series against the Pirates with victories for the Guardians on Friday and Saturday night. Allen will go for the sweep on Sunday.
Allen opened this six-game trip with 6-3 win over the Orioles on Tuesday at Camden Yars. He pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out six and walking two for his first win of the season.
A win on Sunday would give the Guardians a 4-2 record on this trip through Baltimore and Pittsburgh. After Allen’s series-opening win in Baltimore, the Guardians lost the next two games before regaining their footing against the Pirates.
