I think we can enhance those probabilities by using some of that Gimenez savings on Kyle Gibson to counter Detroit's signing for Jack Flaherty.

Looks like he's asking for 10-12 mil. In my opinion, a pretty good offer for 1 year.

At he very least, Jose Quintana is still out their although I much prefer Gibson. I think Gibson would be a big deal.

Mike Clevinger is still on the table.

Looks like Gibson, Quintana, and Clevinger are best of the rest. Keeping my fingers crossed that we can sign Gibson. Ttruly reliable innings eater.

Clevinger was a very good pitcher for Cleveland; yielded a terrific return on his trade to the Padres; and has been injured almost constantly since then.
Throw his dishonesty around his COVID-rule busting trip to a bar in 2020, I don't think they have any interest in him.
Quantrill -- one of the 6 we got for Clevinger -- has been trending downward but I'd take a gamble on him for the right price; maybe he could convert back to the bullpen where he was successful at the start of his time in Cleveland.

And now for something completely different........I think Bo Naylor will flourish being outside the shadow of Josh Naylor!

does anyone other than me think that with the plethora of back end relievers plus having Gaddis and Cade Smith in the mix as well, and bundle in to that Clase is woefully underpaid a trade for a boatload of talent is in the wind? Who would want the best reliever in baseball available for $6-- $7 million a year??????? Could that be an impact power bat???????

Where were you going to play the power bat ? The FO did not want to block any of the young players after acquiring Santana.

For the right bat things could change pretty easily. either of 2 outfield spots could change as could catcher.

One of the reliable online sites [MLB.com? ESPN.com?] suggested a Clase for a No 2 or 3 starter trade back at the beginning of the off-season. At some point he will wear out, Smith got spectactular ratings for his 2024 and hard to see why his talent could be used to finish games.

Of course getting a quality starter would meaning paying him! Would they be willing to add $10M to the annual payroll for the increase from the discount they pay Clase?

Do quality starting pitchers make 10 million ? Let's look at Cobb, Boyd and Flaherty !

Alex Rodriguez made a career out of the long ball with nearly 700 home runs in his 22 seasons as one of MLB's most lethal sluggers. Now his ability to dial-it up from distance is paying dividends on the hardwood.

The former Mariners, Rangers and Yankees star drilled a halfcourt shot Sunday afternoon at Bucknell, going off the glass, and in the process won $10,000 for a Bison student. He responded appropriately with both hands raised in shock, and beelined to the student section to lap up the big win.

Rodriguez was in attendance for the Bucknell vs. Army game after speaking at a forum on campus earlier in the day with Marc Lore, both of whom are in the process of purchasing a controlling interest of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Having earned hundreds of millions of dollars as an MLB player alone, Rodriguez of course didn't need the $10,000, so hitting the big shot for a Bucknell student might go down as one of the best assisted plays of his career.
