Anxious buyers tend to overpay for mediocre talent.
Of all the names the Indians have been linked to I really would not want to see them give up too much of value for them.

Guess the team is good enough.
Re: General Discussion
1159Tribe should be putting all their trade pieces and extra pennies into acquiring at least one talented outfielder.
All the logic in the world isn't going to change fans opinions of the Dolan regime.
Tribe is basically on the verge of wasting wonderful seasons from Masterson, Tomlin and the bullpen. Maybe those SPs can come close to their performance next season, but to count on another lights out bullpen is very dangerous.
Get a stud corner outfielder or forget it.
And don't forget a first baseman who can hit, catch and throw effectively.

Re: General Discussion
1160Tribe team performance has drastically gone into the toilet on offense(the overall approach, folks), the fielding is horrendous and the grasp of fundamentals the last couple of months is astonishing.
When is someone going to be held accountable for not catching the ball?
Carlos Santana needs some time on the bench or a bus ticket to Columbus.
And please give me a concrete example of something positive from the new hitting coach.

1161Manny says he can't expect the kids to play defense like the guys they are replacing.
I didn't know big leaguers were not expected to be capable of catching and throwing the ball correctly.

Re: General Discussion
1163As I peek up and emerge from today's no no foxhole, I see that we are still just 2 games out of first.
Angels go to Detroit to play tomorrow, while we are thankfully off.
We could get to July 29 just 1 1/2 out, and no worse than 2 1/2 out.
Tribe brass better keep those conversations going before the deadline.
I know it's rough going in the trade market now, but come on...there is SOME way to at least incrementally improve this team for the final 60 games and stretch drive.

1164When reporters approached Asdrubal Cabrera following Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Angels, he spread his hands and said, "Not today, guys."

1165Hard to say the management is wasting anything. Until todays Jackson - Rasmus there have been no players worthy of acquiring.

Re: General Discussion
1168"My honest feeling is that I can't fathom wearing another uniform than the Dodgers uniform right now," Kuroda told MLB.com's AJ Cassavell last night through a translator. He'll go over options with his agent, Steve Hilliard of Octagon.
Four factors limiting Kuroda's trade value: since his signing bonus is yet to be paid, he's owed almost $6.8MM of his $12MM contract still. Second, as a player with less than six years service time he's not eligible for draft pick compensation. Third, he possesses leverage with a full no-trade clause, which I think may require additional compensation to waive. Fourth, he's never pitched in the American League.

1170Indians Very Close To Acquiring Kosuke Fukudome
By Tim Dierkes [July 28 at 8:47am CST]
The Indians are in serious talks for Cubs right fielder Kosuke Fukudome, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. The deal is "very close to happening," tweets Danny Knobler of CBS Sports. With Shin-Soo Choo and Grady Sizemore on the DL, the Tribe has a clear need for outfield help.
Fukudome, 34, is hitting .273/.374/.369 in 345 plate appearances for the Cubs this year. Though his right field defense drew praise initially, he's been below-average per UZR over the last few years. Since Fukudome is owed almost $4.7MM for the balance of the season, the Cubs will likely have to kick in money to make a deal happen. He cannot be offered arbitration after the season, so draft pick compensation is not a factor. Fukudome has a limited no-trade clause, but it's not known which teams are on it.
