civ - Manning pointed out Jose's 3rd hit was to the opposite field - a rarity for him in past seasons. Up to the mid .280s is a good thing.

That said of course we do know Jose tends to be streaky. Hope this is the start of another good one.

Both were rumored; we have done tons of trades with San Diego.
Bauer for various guys who are all gone by now but at least we rid ourselves of Trevor.
Clevinger for not much, just Quantrill, Naylor, Hedges, Miller, Arias and Cantillo.
Francisco Mejia for Brad Hand and Adam Cimber.

if I read Francona's quote correctly, the winning run scored only because Gonzalez' throw wasn't cut off by Miller; otherwise the runner would have been a dead duck at home.
Not clear if the throw was off target, or if Miller once again with a major screwup. I'd assume the latter but did anyone watch and have the answer?

After reading what Tito said I think that the threw was off target but Miller's job was redirect it.

Guardians manager Terry Francona thought Cleveland had caught a break when Mariners third base coach Manny Acta sent Moore on the play.

“I thought they got a little aggressive, but it ended up working,” Francona said. “If Owen cuts that, the kid’s probably out by a significant margin. (The throw) was so far over, and Maile can’t vacate home. (Miller)’s just got to cut it.”

they did it again! I woke to another pleasant surprise.

The final 2 innings proceeded as is usual in 2022:

Kwan and Rosario get on base. Ramirez extra base hit plates at least one. Then well placed outs score one or more.
Karinchak works hard for a scoreless 8th. Clase with a 6-pitch easy 9th

Something in the new CBA to be remembered and remembered well.

"Starting a player's clock" is not the same issue it used to be. If a player ends up finishing in the top few in the "rookie of the year" race there are draft picks awarded to that team.

Soooo.....let's say a Gavin Williams, Valera etc just to give them a month to taste the MLB. Then they, still having rookie status - go on to finish top 3 in the ROY award next season the Guardees get draft pick awards.

A definite reason you see lots of rookies UP this year without as much worry about starting their clock.
