I posted this before leaving Seagull but you must have missed it. I found out there is a lodge around the corner of the lake from our cabin and they have a telephone and wifi. They do not have a TV either though. They have a bar and restaurant, so we've been making a point to pop in here for a meal or drinks every once in a while. Get caught up.

Last night we had dinner and drinks here on their outdoor patio as we watched the last half of last nights game on my wife's laptop. Her being a Tiger fan I didn't even have to twist her arm.

Saturday report in late:

Clippers fell 2-1 despite one of Plutko's best 2017 efforts, 2 runs on 7 hits, no walk 4K in 7 innings. Urshela 2 hits, Yandy 1.

Ducks drubbed 11-0. Starter Danny Salazar not quite ready for the majors, 1 2/3 innings, 3 hits, 2 walks, 3 runs and as usual a nice number of strikeouts, 3. Mejia and Bradley and Papi one single each. Change two of them.

Hillcats fell, too, 9-7. Tom with his 9th homer. Loopstok with a double and his daily walk. Castro a single. Chiang 6 runs in 6 innings.

The only winners were the Captains, twice. First a 3-2 complete game by Hillbilly's latest favorite: Tully walked only 1 struck out 3 in 7 innings. In the nightcap Medina and Chu homered. Wakamatsu doubled. Mitch Longo 3 hits. Another 1-day wonder: this time Alex Pantoja with a homer single and 5 rbi.

Scrappers rained out. Arizona not scheduled.

Holy crap. Morimando with another complete game shutout. This one on 92 pitches. That is two CGSho in a row and 3 in his last 4 starts. This is getting kind of serious, no? Might be time to DFA Tomlin.

No one in the minors pitches 9-inning complete games, well almost no one. That was Morimando's 3rd complete game shutout in his past 4 starts. In his last two back-to-back shutouts he's walked a total of 1. Time to give him another look in the big leagues.

Shawn Morimando is becoming accustomed to being the last pitcher standing.

For the second time in a row and third in his last four starts, Cleveland's No. 15 prospect tossed a nine-inning shutout to lead Triple-A Columbus over Toledo, 2-0, on Sunday. He scattered seven hits and one walk while striking out six.
In his last outing, Morimando (8-5) relied on the strikeout to go the distance, but the key for the New York native this time was efficiency. In addition to throwing 78 of 102 pitches for strikes, Morimando induced 12 groundouts and only allowed one runner to get into scoring position.

The 2011 19th-round pick, who used 56 pitches to get through the first five innings, was actually being outperformed by his counterpart -- Toledo southpaw Matthew Boyd -- for the lion's share of the game. Boyd (3-1) gave up just one hit through the first seven innings, before Nellie Rodriguez took Boyd deep in the eighth.
Pitching with the lead, Morimando delivered a six-pitch 1-2-3 eighth inning, affording himself the opportunity to pitch into the ninth for the third time in less than three weeks.

Defense helped the 24-year-old out to start the bottom of the ninth as Columbus left fielder Daniel Robertson caught Tigers No. 9 prospect JaCoby Jones trying to stretch a single into a double.

After getting Jim Adduci to ground out to second base, John Hicks singled to bring the tying run to the plate in the form of Michael Almanzar. Morimando got ahead of Almanzar, 0-2, and induced a groundout to second to cap his 18th straight scoreless inning.

The Ocean Lakes (Va.) product has produced a 3.40 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP in 15 starts for the Clippers and leads the International League with 103 1/3 innings pitched.

The stat lines tell you most of what you want to know but here a some game details:

Only 2 hits by Columbus in their 2-0 win. NRod's 10th homer lifts his avg to 140.

Akron split a pair. Mike Peoples wins the opener, 6 innings 1 run. Mejia ends a "slump", avg back up to 343.

Bullpen blows a save for Bieber, but Hillcats rally back to win 6-4. Their record is now a solid 48-32.

Hillbilly's kid Ben Krauth goes 4 in relief for the Captains, allows 2 runs, after Miniard's short ineffective start. Lake County loses 7-1

Young Scrappers get solid pitching from Grant Hockin and to sweep a twin bill, 3-0 and 3-2. Hockin went 5 shutout innings for his first professional win.
9th round pick James Karnichak debuted with 2 shutout innings and 3 strikeouts in game 2. Gonzalez' 2 hits in the 2nd game, put his OPS at 922. Not to be outdone, Ulysses Cantu walked in the opener and homered in game 2 to boost his OPS to 962. Jesse Berardi singled and doubled.

Finally Arizona won 3-2. Tyler Freeman, 2nd round SS, debuted 1-3. too=old-for-league Mitch Reeves hit 2 homers. JohnathanRod singled and walked. Tahnaj Thomas 3 shutout innings.

No games in the DR on Sunday.

Early on our teams were I believe all below .500 and collectively far below. Last time I totaled them up, maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago, Columbus, Akron and Lynchburg were enough above .500 to make up for Lake County. At this point, they are collectively 10 above, with Columbus and Akron each with 3 more wins than losses, Lynchburg paced by the great pitching of McKenize, Bieber, Civale, Hartson and Chiang 16 above and Lake County doing better in the second half is for the season 12 below.

In early action today, we're getting a lot of the same good stuff we've seen lately:

2 run double from Bobby Bradley and 2 run homer from Y-C Chiang [his 18th] and a couple shutuout innings from Pannone.

3 one-hit shutout innings by Aaron Civale with 4 K and of course no walks. His K/BB in Carolina League is now 36-3. Still trailing Bieber who is 62-4.

and happily not the same as usual, Brady Aiken has 3 shutout innings with 3 K and 1 walk. For his season the BB's lead the K's which is never good

Scrappers are scoreless in the 12th inning. They have 8 hits, all from the 3 guys who've the best hitters here so far: 3 singles by Jesse Berardi [.500 in his first 4 games], double and single by Oscar and 3 singles from Ulysses. Some good first names here this summer, even if none are as unique as Sicnarf.
6 2 hit walk-free innings from Felix Tati, 4 scoreless by Cesar Ventura. Both Cesar and Ulysses on this team. Too bad no Attila or Charlemagne.
