Well claiming a Mitch Brown turnaround is a bit early I guess. He's only worked 8 innings in relief and his line is not all that great but still compared to his work as a starter is at least an improvement:
Starting: 74-68-46-59-80
In Relief: 8---5---2--3-10

5822Paul Hoynes reported the injury this morning.
Hey, Hoynsie: Why isn't catcher Francisco Mejia playing at Class A Lynchburg? Is he in the doghouse house for some reason? – Les Smith.
Hey, Les: He's not in the doghouse, but he does have a sore throwing arm. He should be back in the lineup soon

5823Captains beat up on [David] Lucroy in a come from behind win. Their only prospect of note, Willi Castro doubled twice, single, walked, batted in two, and might have made a fine play or two at shortstop.
Less surprisingly Lynchburg ralled to for yet another win. Chang with 28th double; Bradley singled; Mejia on the bench.
Lugo not as sharp as last start, but no earned runs: 5-4-1-0-3-6 3.79.
Yandy keeps hitting, hard to imagine he'll stay in AAA much longer; today two singles and a walk. At 3rd today. made an error. Gio DHing.
Ryan Merritt 5-5-2-1-0-2
Mahoning Valley rained out.
Akron start delayed due to rain.
Not too likely for rain in Arizona; they start at 10 p.m. Eastern time.

Re: Minor Matters
5824Minor league transactions tonight.
OF Greg Allen promoted to AA Akron. Allen leads all of MiLB in runs scored with 93.
OF Luigi Rodriguez also promoted to Akron
OF Bryson Myles activated off DL at COL and released.
Mark Mathias was hit in the face with pitch yesterday. He is not going to need DL. Just 6 stitches.
I'm very happy for Allen. I also wonder if that means one of the Akron OF prospects will be heading to Columbus soon. Three CF'ers on roster now. Papi might need step back too.
Still waiting on one promotion.

Re: Minor Matters
5825Oops, I scrolled down my timeline on Twitter and saw this ...
.
Bradley Zimmer and Clint Frazier have flanked each other in the Double-A Akron outfield all year and played side by side in the Eastern League All-Star Game earlier this month. Now the pair is heading to Triple-A together.
The Indians promoted their top two prospects to Triple-A Columbus late Sunday.
Zimmer, MLB.com's No. 22 overall prospect, brought his average up 14 points in his last eight games with the RubberDucks. He's slashing .253/.371/.471 with 14 homers and 53 RBIs, leads the Eastern League with 56 walks and ranks third with 33 stolen bases in 93 games.
After moving into the leadoff spot for Akron earlier this month, Zimmer batted .387 (12-for-31) with seven runs scored in eight games.
"He had some holes in his swing that myself and some guys up the chain, in the front office, we thought there were some adjustments he needed to make and it's better to make them now than find out he has to make them at the big league level," RubberDucks hitting coach Tim Laker told the Akron Beacon Journal. "There were pitches in the zone he just wasn't getting to. ... It was more about lining his body up so his swing path could stay through the ball longer."
Zimmer, 23, was drafted 21st overall in 2014 and played in the All-Star Futures Game a year later.
Ranked one spot behind Zimmer by MLB.com, Frazier represented the Indians at the Futures Game this year in San Diego. The 21-year-old broke out of a seven-game slump with a season-high four hits on Saturday and has a .276/.356/.469 slash line with 13 homers and 48 RBIs in 89 games.
Frazier was selected fifth overall in the 2013 Draft and was named a postseason All-Star in the Rookie-level Arizona League later that summer and again last year in the Carolina League.

Re: Minor Matters
5826That's pretty cool. Lynchburg might be getting Paulino back to plug the gap in their OF but not sure who plays CF: None among Santander, Paulino, Murphy are CFs. Could bring up Nathan Lukes from Lake County, he's hitting over 300 and playing in center.

Re: Minor Matters
5828In Arizona Nolan Jones drew a couple walks, as he often does. And Will Benson did the same, and stole his 4th base. Jones on base pct is a slick 513, all singles and walks. Benson had drawn 5 walks in his first 16 games; 5 more in his last 3.
Re: Minor Matters
5829Lake County has a couple OF'ers that are a bit old for that stop. Lukes, who you mentioned, and Marabell both are like 22 or 23. Both performing well too. I wouldn't mind seeing both get a bump to Lynchburg.

Re: Minor Matters
5831Oh gosh, I follow a bunch of baseball accounts on Twitter.
Unfortunately my favorite Twitter account to follow for Indians info got deleted a while back. But I do follow the Indians, and all the minor league teams individual accounts as well.
Tribe Insider is a good follow.
I follow all the big name baseball writers, like Buster Olney, Peter Gammons, Jon Heyman, Ken Rosenthal, Bob Nightengale, etc... And I follow local writers too. Beat writers for Indians and the minor league teams. And Jordan Bastian from MLB.com is a good follow.
I do follow Tony Lastoria and his web sites' account too, Indians on Scout.
Baseball America and some of their writers.
Minor league writers like John Sickels & Jim Callis.
MLB Pipeline is a good follow.
Michael Bode from WFNY CLE and writer for Scout.com is a good follow.
Lets Go Tribe from SB Nation.
Then there is some offbeat smaller accounts I follow that gets interesting tid bits once in a while. Burning River Baseball, Indians Buzztap & Indians Insider.

Re: Minor Matters
5832As far as the transactions from last night ... I got the info in my first post on Greg Allen, Mathias, etc, from the account I mentioned above called "Tribe Insider".
The information on Zimmer and Frazier being promoted, I think I first read about it on one of the teams accounts. Either Indians or Clippers. Then a bunch of people picked up on it and tweeted it out.

HIGHLIGHTS
Yandy Diaz (Columbus, 3B): 2-3, R, BB, E – What’s left to say about this kid? He’s become a staple for ATF because of his consistency at the plate, but he’s been hitting out of his mind recently. In his last 10 games, he is hitting .487 (!) with eight runs and nine RBI. Oh, and he’s walked seven times to only four strikeouts. In fact, in 89 games between Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus, Diaz has walked the same amount of times he has struck out (58). You’ve really got to wonder when the 24-year-old will finally crack the big league roster. He appears to be ready.
David Armendariz (Lake County, RF): 3-4, R, 2B, HR (2), 3 RBI – Armendariz’s three-run homer was a big one, coming with the Captains down 2-0 in the seventh inning and serving as the game-winning hit. Besides the blast, Armendariz also pitched in a second-inning single and a leadoff ninth-inning double, which started another small rally that saw Lake County push two insurance runs across. Armendariz now has five hits, two long balls and eight RBI in his last two games, and although he hasn’t been much of an RBI guy in A-ball this year, 10 of 13 RBI in 22 games with the Captains have come in his last five games.
THE REST
Adam Moore (Columbus, C): 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI – Moore drove in half of his club’s runs to help the Clippers to a 5-3 win. He’s driven in five in his last five games now, and he’s got 28 RBI in 64 games with the Clippers. The backstop is also hitting .268 with a .333 OBP.
Ryan Merritt (Columbus, SP): W (6-7), 5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R (1 earned), 0 BB, 2 K – Merritt has been up and down this season, but this seemed to be one of the ups. He didn’t walk anyone for just the fourth time out of his 17 starts, and it was the sixth time he’s allowed one run or less.
Perci Garner (Columbus, RP): H (2), 2.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R/ER, 0 BB, 3 K – Garner continued his great season with another solid outing of the bullpen on Sunday. The 27-year-old has a 1.85 ERA in 30 games between Akron and Columbus this year and has struck out 58 in 63.1 innings. Opponents are hitting just .196 against him, and he carries a solid 0.95 WHIP.
Ben Heller (Columbus, CP): S (5), 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R/ER, 0 BB, 1 K – The Indians are in need of some bullpen help, and Heller is an interesting option if they are looking internally. The hard-throwing righty has compiled a 2.63 ERA in 26 appearances with the Clippers and has struck out 23 in 24 innings.
Bradley Zimmer (Akron, CF): 1-3, R, BB, K, 2 SB – Zimmer is starting to heat up at the plate, and his move to the leadoff spot may have helped. In eight games since being put at the top of Dave Wallace’s lineup, the outfielder is hitting .387 with seven runs, three RBI and a .486 OBP. He also has five walks to six strikeouts.
Jordan Smith (Akron, RF): 2-4, 2 2B – Smith picked up half of his team’s hits on Sunday and the only two extra-base hits for the ‘Ducks on the day. The 26-year-old outfielder is now hitting .237 with 21 extra-base hits and 24 RBI in 61 games with Akron this season.
Nellie Rodriguez (Akron, 1B): 0-3, RBI, K, SF – The ‘Ducks couldn’t get much going offensively on Sunday, generating just one run on four hits. Rodriguez was the provider of that run, pushing him into a tie for fifth in the Eastern League with 60 RBI.
Julian Merryweather (Akron, SP): L (2-3), 5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R (1 earned), 3 BB, 3 K, WP – Merryweather allowed nine earned runs in his ‘Ducks debut on June 26, but he’s allowed just 11 runs in his five starts since. Between High-A Lynchburg and Akron, the righty has compiled a 2.61 ERA.
Sicnarf Loopstok (Lynchburg, C): 1-1, 2 RBI, E, HBP – The backstop drove in the game’s first two runs in the second with a two-out, two-run single. Loopstok was hit by a pitch in his second at-bat in the fifth, and was replaced by Alex Monsalve in the next frame.
Luigi Rodriguez (Lynchburg, LF): 0-4 – Rodriguez was finally shut down by opposing pitchers. He had been on an absolute tear lately, hitting .395 (15-for-38) in his last 10 games with nine runs, nine RBI, three stolen bases and seven multi-hit games.
Luis Lugo (Lynchburg, SP): W (7-3), 5.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R (0 earned), 3 BB, 6 K, WP – Lugo was solid for the second start in a row and now hasn’t allowed an earned run since his June 10 start. He tossed a shutout, seven-inning, three-hit gem last time out, and although he wasn’t as effective on Sunday, the lefty still didn’t allow a run to score.
David Speer (Lynchburg, CP): S (3), 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R/ER, 0 BB, 1 K – Speer’s 2016 excellence continues with another solid outing. He now has a 1.64 ERA in 26 appearances with the ‘Cats and has struck out 45 through 44 innings of work. The lefty is now 3-for-5 in save opportunities for the Hillcats.
Willi Castro (Lake County, SS): 3-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI, BB – Castro is hitting .259 with a .288 OBP in 89 games with the Captains this season, but he’s been on fire as of late. He’s now hitting .357 (15-for-42) in his last ten games with six runs and 10 RBI.
Matt Esparza (Lake County, SP): 4.1 IP, 1 H, 2 R/ER, 4 BB, 2 K – You won’t often see more earned runs than hits, but it happened to Esparza on Sunday. The control issues did the lefty in. He hadn’t walked more than two in an outing all year (19 appearances, 18 starts), but he allowed four on the day and threw just 42 strikes out of his 71 pitches.
Kieran Lovegrove (Lake County, CP): S (5), 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R/ER, 0 BB, 3 K – Lovegrove has struggled with consistency at times this season, but he has been better as of late. He has allowed just three earned runs since May 30 in 17.2 innings across 13 outings.
Samad Taylor (AZL Indians, 2B): 2-4, K – With one of the two two-hit games for the AZL Indians on Sunday, the 2016 10th-round pick pushed his season average up to .300 and his OBP up to .400. He’s also walked seven times to just eight strikeouts.
Elvis Perez (AZL Indians, SS): 1-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 K, 2 E – Perez had the lone multi-RBI game for the AZL Tribe on Sunday, pushing his season total up to 13 in 16 games played. He’s also hitting .288 with a solid .358 OBP.
Brady Aiken (AZL Indians, SP): ND, 3.2 IP, 5 H, 3 R (2 earned), 1 BB, 4 K, 1 HR – Aiken has struggled a bit in his first taste of pro ball, registering a 6.28 ERA in seven starts, but he’s still striking runners out at an impressive rate. The lefty has now compiled 26 K’s in 18.1 innings.
