Zach McAllister - R - Indians

Indians placed RHP Zach McAllister on the 15-day disabled list with a hip injury.

The severity of the injury is unknown. McAllister got off to a nice start this season, but he had surrendered seven earned runs over 2 1/3 innings in July. This could be more about getting the righty reliever a breather coinciding with the All-Star break.

Joseph Colon - R - Indians

Indians purchased the contract of RHP Joseph Colon from Triple-A Columbus.
Colon spent the first 50 games of the 2016 season serving a 50-game suspension for a drug of abuse. He's been dominant since returning to action, boasting a 0.59 ERA and 0.78 WHIP in 15 1/3 innings at Triple-A. The right-hander should prove to be an asset in mid-relief.

Austin Adams - R - Indians

Indians recalled RHP Austin Adams from Triple-A Columbus.
Adams has a nice 2.35 ERA and 12/3 K/BB ratio in 7 2/3 innings this season for Cleveland. The right-hander figures to fill a middle relief role in his return.

Jul 7 - 3:09 PM

Mike Clevinger - S - Indians

Indians optioned RHP Mike Clevinger to Triple-A Columbus.
Clevenger owns a rough 7.71 ERA in 16 1/3 innings (three starts, one relief appearances) this season at the major league level. He's been dominant at Columbus, and could return to the rotation there.

I'm not as interested in Bruce, Gonzalez, & Braun because our current OF is doing the job, and we should be adding Brantley just before the deadline. And Braun is expensive and the Tribe are cheap.

Brantley, Davis, Naquin, Chisenhall would be fine with me. Especially as well as all those guys have been playing.

I know Goldschmidt would cost a lot in way or prospects but we have some disposable prospects in the upper levels. Zimmer for example. Erik Gonzalez the SS who is doing great job in Columbus has no future here with Frankie in front of him. Numerous SP's will be without a home. Clevinger, Marimando, Plutko, Merritt. I wouldn't touch any lower level guys, we'll be needing them in future. But upper level guys are expendable right now due to the talent and depth of big clubs rotation.

I think a package of Clevinger, Zimmer, and Gonzalez would get their attention and at least be a great starting point. Goldschmidt is signed at an affordable rate too, so not a rental.

Lucroy would come cheaper. Zimmer, Gonzalez and Merritt maybe? Something along those lines.

Buster Olney was on WKNR yesterday morning. He said he was covering the Fort Bragg game and talking to Braves players there before the game. He said they told him the Indians were the best team they've played this year and raved about how great their pitching is.

Don't know if the Braves have played the Rangers this year but they have played the Cubs and Giants, so that's nice to hear.

There's often some roster jockeying over the All Star break. Clevinger gets another start in Columbus and then can come back to Cleveland in a couple weeks. Colon had to be placed on the 40-man roster or released. He's pitched very well in the Columbus bullpen, I guess he deserves a look.

Not at all pleased with TJ House debut as a lefty specialist. Let two inherited runners score in his first two outings.

Michael Brantley starts his rehab assignment tomorrow in Mahoning Valley. He'll then play Wednesday at Lake County and Akron this weekend.

It appears as though, if all goes well, Brantley will be back with the Indians (again) before August. #Indians

Don't hurry. Things are going great without you, Mike.

José Quintana: Chicago White Sox Pitcher Named to American League All-Star Team as Injury Replacement
Quintana was added to the American League roster for Tuesday's All-Star Game as a replacement for Cleveland Indians pitcher Danny Salazar, who is sitting out due to elbow discomfort.

Danny Salazar - S - Indians

Danny Salazar will not pitch in the All-Star Game due to a sore right elbow.

It's the second time this season that Salazar has had to skip a start due to elbow soreness. Obviously that's worrisome, although the Indians say he will take his first turn after the All-Star break on July 19.

The right-hander holds a 2.75 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 118/46 K/BB ratio over 104 2/3 innings this season.

Evidently Twins may not be any party later this week:

The Twins offense could do without the All-Star break, as they are firing on all cylinders at this point, having scored 71 runs in their last nine games.
