I had arthroscopic surgery on my shoulder last June. I had to rehab for 6 months, only allowed to lift very light weights. And was not permitted by doctor to work at all for 6 months.
After 6 months I was let go from rehab and told to continue lifting, and gradually go to heavier weights. But that it would be 1 full year before I was back to 100%.
So for the Indians to tell the media that they hoped he would be ready to play in 5 to 6 months was ridiculous. I know Brantley was pushing hard and dying to get out there but sometimes you have to save a guy from himself.
There were times after months I was feeling good and pushed it and then my shoulder killed me for a week. My rehab guy read me the riot act. Told me I would be shocked how many guys end up re-tearing their labrum or whatever was corrected by doing too much too soon.
Brantley shouldn't have been allowed to push it too soon. Just damn lucky he didn't reinjure himself ... if he didn't.
