Norm is getting a little old, I guess the Dodgers are on a youth movement. [oops: he died way back in 1986 at age 52. His body was discovered about 11 a.m. in 15 feet of water at Beaver Island.]

Maybe the Cubs can develop Soto like they did Rondon. That would be a neat lefty - righty combo. I liked Soto and if he were going to land anywhere, It nice to see him land in Chicago.

Just checking.....Soto debuted with Cleveland last season and threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings over six relief appearances. The Cubs optioned him to Triple-A Iowa.

<

While another Giovanni Soto coming to join the Cubs could cause confusion in the communications department and possibly lead to the 24-year-old pitcher being on the other end of inside jokes regarding the other Soto, the 6-foot-2 southpaw does seem to have some upside.

Soto pitched well for the Tribe’s Triple-A affiliate in 2015, accumulating a 2.68 ERA, along with a 1.19 WHIP, in 46 relief appearances while boasting an 8.6 K/9 figure. For his career, which has featured work as both a starter and reliever for the Puerto Rican product, Soto sports a 3.10 ERA.

Beginning his minor league journey with the Tigers organization, Soto became a full-time reliever midway through the 2012 season. He’s been moving up the ladder steadily since, spending the entire 2014 slate with the Indians’ Double-A affiliate in Akron, Ohio, and compiling a 3.23 ERA while there.

<

Last year, with the Triple-A Columbus, Soto was 2-1 with a 2.68 ERA in 46 appearances.

<

With little sample size in the major leagues, it looks like this is purely a depth move for the Cubs, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Cubs give Soto a chance if there is an injury in the bullpen or if someone underperforms, however, he is not likely to be the “next in line” should the Cubs need an arm at the big league level.

Speaking of Rondon, he struck out the side in the ninth for his second save.

Bit of commentary on Uribe:

Juan Uribe - 3B - Indians

Juan Uribe went 3-for-4 with a walk in Friday’s loss to the Mets.

Uribe came into Friday’s action just 1-for-19 on the season, so of course he reached base four times against his former team.

The 37-year-old cranked 14 home runs with a .737 OPS last season and is a popular clubhouse presence around MLB, so he should have some leash at third base as long as he’s healthy. Giovanny Urshela could eventually threaten for the starting job, but he hasn’t exactly been knocking the cover off the ball in the minors.

I feel like I am missing something here:

Lonnie Chisenhall - 3B - Indians

Lonnie Chisenhall (forearm) is on track to be activated from the disabled list on Wednesday.

He'll play in two more rehab games with Double-A Akron on Monday and Tuesday before being activated, assuming all goes well. Chisenhall has just one hit in his first 15 at-bats while on a rehab assignment. He'll be the Indians' regular right fielder against right-handed pitching once activated.

Why are they so anxious to bring this guy back who hasn't done a thing all year so far. OK, I am assuming they cut Cowgill for him, whatever I can see that.

But then, who do they cut when Brantley comes back?

Just watched Naquin get interviewed by Andre Knott.

Loved hearing him talk about how he watches veterans do their work and how he learns, he named Rajai, Napoli and Brantley.
