By trading Masterson, don't we get yet another compensatory draft pick next season?

Ramsey enters the Indians' Top 20 list at No. 5.

Ramsey appears to be a good start.
Smart move. A guy who is in an outfield logjam situation, who is tearing up AA after being drafted in 2012 in the first round.
Was he not our opening day starter or maybe I am misremembering?
If he was our best pitcher, he would still be an Indian - oh - and the Indians would still be in contention. What he is is something different. He's a guy who turned down multiple years at $15 million per. Then he proceeded to totally suck, making us glad he turned it down. Then, he got hurt to top it off, although that is clearly not his fault.

He will end up getting nowhere near what he turned down in the offseason market, unless her tears it up for the Cardinals. Best of luck to him, but he (or his agent) left the Indians little choice but to get an asset for him.

Oh, and common sense says Corey Kluber is far, far and away the best pitcher on the Indians.

The Cardinals have Shane Robinson in AAA in the OF. He is 30 years old and a career .234 hitter in the minors, including hitting .140 this year. Thomas Pham is 26 and a career .234 hitter in the minors. That's two of the OF'ers that have Ramsey "stuck" in AA.

Randal Grichuk is batting .266 with a .317 OBP. Tho is showing good power.

Let's be clear, if an organization, and a good one like the Cardinals, felt Ramsey was ready for AAA, these guys wouldn't be holding him back. They'd cut Robinson in a heart beat to make room for an actual prospect who was ready.

Ramsey is clearly lacking a batting eye. Cardinals know it. He has struck out 174 times in 697 career at bats in AA.

His 84 walks and his OBP isn't all that terrible. But if a guy strikes out that much in AA I'd hate to see what he'll do in the majors. So let's be clear, we got a guy with some work to do if he ever becomes an every day major leaguer. He didn't make out like a bandit here or anything. We got a suspect, not a prospect.

There's indeed some fire under the smoke with Lackey and Indians rumors. Cleveland has interest, though nothing is imminent right now.

Wouldn't that be interesting.
