Uncle Dennis, if you can get them in Charlotte I just tasted two nice wines here in the $15 range.

2007 Hames Valley Merlot from Joyce Vineyards, and 2009 Pinot Monterey from Joyce Vineyards. 2,000 cases per year on both, but they have just gone retail. Until recently they sold only to Monterey and Carmel restaurants.

Very nice for the price. I have food pairings galore in mind.

My current favorite is a Seghesio Zinfandel from Sonoma County. I have some 2009, though if you can find 2007 buy all you can. I can get it at Costco for about $18.99. Good stuff!

As I've mentioned many times before my wife and I are regulars at our local fair. Of course I go for the horse races, but I equally enjoy the concert lineups. The concerts normally feature bands and artists long past their prime selling days. Concert admission is free with daily fair admission.

I just checked and see this year we get Foghat and Blue Oyster Cult.

I'm happy to see Roy Clark will be appearing. Well, especially happy because for some reason I thought he was dead. Really.

I think Charlie Daniels plays 365 days a year. I've seen him at fairs here, and also doing a midnight show at Pleasure Island in Disney World.

I couldn't figure out who the heck Abbacadabra was. Duh, it's an Abba tribute band.
