Last winter Antonetti struck quickly, singing Derrick Lowe as one of the first FA signings of the winter. So I thought he was going to be aggressive and kept waiting, all winter long, for his next big move to pick up a RH corner hitter.

Again he is one of the earlier movers, in this trade of Rogers for Avila. Does he have anything else in mind, or is that the big deal of the winter? Will he again make lowball offers to every 1B and LF and settle for the cheapest options in February?

Worth a shot?

OF Nyjer Morgan was sent outright to Class AAA Nashville but refused the assignment and became a free agent. Morgan batted .304 in 2011 and was a postseason hero, knocking in the winning run of Game 5 of the NL Division Series against Arizona. He began the 2012 season in a deep slump and never recovered, batting .239 and spending much of the second half on the bench.

He is not without baggage:

On May 23, 2010, Morgan was involved in arguably one of the most embarrassing moments in Major League history. It began when Baltimore's Adam Jones hit a fly ball to center. Morgan dropped the ball and it caromed away, but he thought he had knocked the ball over the fence for a home run. Instead of going after the ball, Morgan reacted by angrily throwing his glove to the ground and walked away as the ball rolled into left field. Before a teammate was able to retrieve it, Jones had circled the bases for an inside-the-park home run. Morgan heard a chorus of boos from the crowd as he left the field after the inning.

On August 25, 2010, Morgan was given a seven game suspension for allegedly throwing a ball at a fan during a game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park; Morgan appealed the suspension and was cleared of wrongdoing.

Just one week later, on September 1, 2010, Morgan was involved in an on-field brawl with Florida Marlins pitcher Chris Volstad. On the previous night Morgan ran into Marlins catcher Brett Hayes, separating Hayes' shoulder. On the following night Morgan was hit by a pitch in the 4th inning. Later that night Volstad threw behind Morgan. Incensed by the pitch, Morgan charged the mound, taking a swing at Volstad before being clotheslined by Marlins first-baseman Gaby Sanchez, leading to a bench clearing fight. MLB gave Morgan an eight-game suspension and an undisclosed fine as a result of his actions. The suspension from the September 1, brawl was upheld and Morgan started serving his eight game suspension on September 17. The league also gave him a $15,000 fine in addition to the eight game suspension. The incident came just days after Morgan ran into St. Louis Cardinals backup catcher Bryan Anderson in spite of the fact that the Cardinals catcher didn't have the ball and had stepped away from the plate.

Morgan was also widely criticized for twice yelling out obscenities on live TV immediately after the Brewers won the National League Division series on October 7, 2011.

Just happened this week !

Former L.A. Dodgers outfielder Milton Bradley's estranged wife told police he beat the crap out of her this week ... the third time she's accused him of attacking her -- this according to law enforcement sources.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ, Milton's wife Monique filed a felony domestic violence report with the LAPD, claiming she and Milton were in their house when a verbal altercation turned physical ... leaving her with visible marks on her body. Our sources couldn't be more specific.

Milton and his wife have been through the ringer in the last year. Both filed dueling divorce petitions after Milton was arrested for felony assault ... when he allegedly swung a bat at her.

The bat incident occurred in September 2011. Milton was arrested for a separate domestic violence incident in January 2011 -- also involving Monique -- making this the THIRD time Milton's been accused of domestic violence.

So far, Milton's just been named in the police report. Officers haven't arrested him yet, but law enforcement sources tell us, cops really want to speak to him.

Milton is also suspected of violating the restraining order Monique currently has against him.

Milton's attorney Harland Braun tells TMZ, "Milton denies hitting her and will cooperate with police. This is an ongoing, bitter divorce."

Dallas’ Icon Larry Hagman Dies at Age 81

by Chris Pursell | November 23, 2012 at 11:34 PM | Dallas

The man who became famous not only for his iconic take as J.R. Ewing on “Dallas” but also for his role on “I Dream of Jeanie” died at 4:20 p.m. on Friday afternoon at a hospital in Dallas, according to Dallas Morning News. According to the report, Hagman died as a result of complications that came from the actor’s recent battle with cancer.

“Larry was back in his beloved Dallas, re-enacting the iconic role he loved most,” the family said in a statement to the press. “Larry’s family and close friends had joined him in Dallas for the Thanksgiving holiday. When he passed, he was surrounded by loved ones. It was a peaceful passing, just as he had wished for. The family requests privacy at this time.”

Hagman moved to Dallas due to his health issues in order to take part in the reboot of “Dallas” on TNT.

The report states that on-screen wife Linda Gray and on-screen brother Patrick Duffy were both at his bedside when he passed away.

“They had been friends for 35 years and they had worked together for many years, so obviously it is devastating,” Grey’s agent told The Sun.
