BA reports on Baker:
Ranked #82 in Baseball America's Top 500. [but drafted at No. 173]
Date Signed: [Currently Not Available] Signed for: $200,000
Draftee Representative: PSI Sports Signing Scout: [Currently Not Available]
Baker has taken an uncharted path as a prospect. He went to Douglas High in Juneau, Alaska, before pitching at Tacoma (Wash.) CC last year and then winding up at Western Nevada this year. Baker has a good pitcher's frame at 6-foot-3 and 213 pounds and has put up fantastic numbers as the ace for the Wildcats, though scouts see him in the bullpen. His fastball sits in the 90-95 mph range, and his breaking ball shows flashes of being a plus pitch, though scouts would like for it to be more of a true slider. He mixes in an occasional changeup but is more of a two-pitch guy, which limits his role. Scouts don't love his delivery because he doesn't stay in line to the plate and shows effort, which limits his command and would seem to further suggest a future in the bullpen.
Re: Minor Matters
1832They also show Schubert signing , or at least his name appears in boldface on the database which is supposed to mean he signed, but with no $ details.
Ranked #151 in Baseball America's Top 500. Selected at No. 233.
Date Signed: [Currently Not Available] Signed for: [Currently Not Available]
Draftee Representative: KASE Management Signing Scout: [Currently Not Available]
Schubert is in the process of legally changing his last name from the current McAdams. By any name, he's one of the toolsier preps hitters in Georgia, a high-risk, high-reward player with significant upside. He's 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, and he runs well for his size, a tick above-average now, though he will wind up a fringy or below-average runner as he fills out. Otherwise, it's not hard to project on Schubert, a righthanded hitter who flashes plus raw power when he makes consistent contact. He'll likely wind up on a corner, and his strong arm makes right field a logical future location. Teams that believe in Schubert's bat have to believe he'll refine a raw approach at the plate, relying in part on his impressive batting-practice displays. He committed late to High Point, and scouts consider him signable, which may get him to get picked in the first two rounds even though the scouting consensus appears to peg him as a third- to fifth-round talent.

Re: Minor Matters
1833Our Arizona League team debuts tomorrow. Their roster currently shows 12 names. 5 pitchers, 2 catchers, 3 infielders, 2 outfielders. I played many games with only 5 in the field; other team has to call their field, or play "pitchers hand".
Re: Minor Matters
1834Civ! Is Andrew Campbell among the names mentioned? He was my breakout position player this year. I guess he was a real LOOOOOG shot. First time I missed a pick in a long time but the first time that my choice didn't even make any of our teams.

Re: Minor Matters
1839Finished 3 for 4. More excellent debuts in Arizona by Dorssys Paulino, a top Dominican signee last summer, 17 year old went 3-5; and Santander a very toolsy OF who had 2 hits. Dillon Howard, however, was ineffective, 4 runs in 3 innings. Highlight pitching Wednesday was TJ House with 7 2-hit shutout innings for Akron; he doesn't show up on BA's "daily top lines" since he was not in their Top 30 Tirbe prospect list. He and McFarland have the been top starters in the system this season.

1841note for I Phone users, milb.com offers a quick way to check out scores; choose the Indians as your "affiliate" choice and you get all the game results; boxscores and play by play available. Then save the site to your home screen. Not as much detail as milb.com on your regular computer but awfully quick and handy source.
Re: Minor Matters
18426th rounder Joe Wendle was 2-4 with a walk for MHV. No home runs from Juan Romero this night, but he drew the bases loaded walk off walk in the 11th. Before that Mr. Home Run or Nothing, had a big nothing: 4 K.
Re: Minor Matters
1843BA annuonces Future Game rosters. I don't know if every big league is guaranteed representation, but there certainly was no way Indians could land someone on the "U.S" team unless U.S. includes Puerto Rico. But we rate 2 on the 'World" team, both slightly stretches, Lindor because he's so young and Aguillar because preseason BA ranked him about 25th on a depleted Indians Top 30.
Jesus Aguilar, 1b
Team: High Class A Carolina (Carolina)
Organization: Indians
The Scoop: Aguilar has done a lot to prove that his strong 2011 season was a sign of things to come, not a fluke. Aguilar hasn't slowed down in a return to the Carolina League this year. He's hitting more line drives while still providing glimpses of his plus power.
Francisco Lindor, ss
Team: Low Class A Lake County (Midwest)
Organization: Indians
The Scoop: A first-round pick in 2011, Lindor has been the star in Lake County since the day he arrived in April. In addition to very solid defense at shortstop, Lindor has shown an advanced feel for hitting in his first full pro season.

Re: Minor Matters
1844It appears all Major League teams score at least 1 prospect but not all score twice. Only the Royals with 3 on the list, and in our division both Chisox and Twins rate only one Futurist.

There is nothing new to report on 4th round pick outfielder D’Vone McClure and 8th round pick right-handed pitcher Caleb Hamrick, the lone remaining unsigned top ten round picks for the Indians. Both are prep players that are expected to be tough signs, and in the case of McClure he has a pretty strong commitment to the University of Arkansas. The Indians have around $1.2 million left in their bonus pool to sign these two players, so the money is definitely there to go overslot for both (McClure’s slot is $315K, Hamrick’s slot is $136K). Ultimately, it is expected that the Indians will sign both players but right now it is simply a negotiating game (and waiting game) by both sides.
21st round pick infielder Joe Sever, per a report in the Malibu Times, was going to wait until closer to the July 13th deadline to make a decision on whether or not to sign, but today he signed a contract and is officially a member of the Cleveland Indians.
24th round pick right-handed pitcher Walker White is still in a holding pattern with the Indians. He is expected to sign, but a final offer has yet to be given.
36th round pick right-handed pitcher Benny Suarez is expected to sign soon with the Indians per a report in the Houston Chronicle. He is an interesting arm taken late in the draft that can get the ball up to 95 MPH
