As someone who was against the trade to blame Ubaldo for this loss is ridiculous. This team has no pop. The tigers have MCabrerra a MRAm clone who changes the whole equation. Everyone knows we didnt need manny and we still dont a generation later.

Who's blaming Ubaldo? I thought he pitched a solid game. Any pitcher can have a bad inning against the likes of Detroit and especially V-Mart.

You have to love Pestano.

Now we're down to crunch time with Thome/Duncan/Chisenhall.

We need a couple of runs here.

To save our season? You mean, if we lose today and sweep the rest of the games against Detroit we don't have a hope?

You're way too dramatic for me, always on the verge of giving up.

I gave up a couple weeks ago, when we went from 1.5 games out to 6.5 games out in only a week. But I keep hoping against hope.

This game is one more example of how hard it is to win w/o any significant offense. Ubaldo made one mistake, and that's all it took for the Tigers.

Well, they're not beating Verlander on Wednesday. But seriously: what about the Indians' recent record against the Tigers, or frankly, their record in the clutch at any time in the last decade with the exception of 2007, leads you to believe they're going to do anything other than fail yet again?

This season has been nothing short of a disgrace.

Doug Fister strikes out career-high 13 to lead Tigers

CLEVELAND -- Doug Fister struck out a career-high 13, Victor Martinez hit a three-run homer and the Detroit Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians 4-2 on Monday to extended their AL Central lead to 7½ games.

Fister (7-13) improved to 4-1 in seven starts since being acquired from Seattle on July 30. The right-hander gave up an earned run and four hits over eight innings.
Jose Valverde pitched a perfect ninth for his 41st consecutive save, extending his team record and helping the Tigers improve to 14-4 since holding a 1½-game lead on the Indians on Aug. 19. Detroit began a three-game home sweep of the Indians that night and has won five straight against them, sending Cleveland to its largest deficit of the season.
